Helm Software Synth - Distortion

Distortion

Distortion is a great Helm module for adding some bite to your patches.

There are four types of distortion that you can choose from: Soft Clip, Hard Clip, Linear Fold and Sine Fold. I go over each of these types in the video tutorial.

As you can use each of these you can see the results in the oscilloscope. The visual results can help you understand why they make the sound that they each do.

There are two controls on Distortion that lets you control each of the four distortion types: Drive and Mix. Drive adjusts the amount of distortion which is applied to the original sound. Mix controls the amount of original versus the new distorted sound.

As with all the modules in Helm, Distortion is meant to be used in coordination with other modules to create unique sounds. Explore what this and all the other modules have to offer you.

I hope you have enjoyed this video tutorial on Helm. There will be more tutorials to follow.
Cheers,
