What is the difference between entrepreneurship and freelancing?

Recently, some of my friends have the idea of leaving their current stable job. Some of them want to move to higher income job, some are going to start their own businesses, and some want to do freelance jobs.

At first, I did not know the difference between entrepreneurship and freelancing, after doing some researches, today I would like to share what I learned.

Entrepreneurship and freelancing are totally two different things.

In the nature and channel of work, the entrepreneurship pays more attention to the real economy, and the freelancing relies on the Internet.

The real economy is the so-called projects; the scale can be as big as a real estate, as small as a shop, a restaurant and so on.

The advantage of this real economy is that you can be the boss and hire employees, don’t have to care about what’s the boss think of you, psychologically there will be a sense of superiority.

Freelancing is mostly dependent on the Internet for the platform's work on copywriting, programming, video and design classes. As long as your brain is inspired, with a notebook that you can surf with software at any time, you can start your work.

The greatest advantage of freelancing is that it doesn’t limit by the time and geography.

A lot of freelance work is on the Internet, and there is a network of relationships, and this is about how to let people know you and entrust you. But many freelancers rely on online marketing, so the actual cost of the economy is not very high.

But knowledge is priceless; before you decide to become a freelancer, it is best to enrich yourself and determine your business direction.

On the level of communication skills, entrepreneurship needs to lead the team; freelancers are usually alone.

For the real economy industry, whether this team is a small team of 10 or 100 people, as a leader must communicate with all the players, because from the purchase, collation, sales, check and so on, it is impossible for a person to complete the entire program.

At this time, communication is very important; deviations may cause significant economic losses.

Freelancers usually only need to communicate with one or two people, and then they will immerse themselves in their work after they have finished communicating. Interpersonal relationships are not particularly complex, unlike in some big companies that need to please some people.

Overall, the stress on relationships is smaller.

In the time of independent control, entrepreneurs have little time for themselves; freelancers have more flexible arrangements.

Most of the time, the entrepreneurs are always working. After all, they can’t assure that their company on others hands, and in order to increase the competitive advantage, they can only work overtime to compete.

Sometimes, you need to sacrifice your sleep time to fulfill a customer's order.

Many people choose to do become a freelancer is because of the so-called "freedom". They can arrange their time according to their need, as long as the task is completed on time.

When the freelancers accepted the task, they will take the initiative to propose their own time budget to the client, so that they have more time for themselves.

In the customer's demand, for the entrepreneur, the customer is the God, and for the freelancer, is based on the freelancer’s mood.

The customer is the most important for the entrepreneur, many profits and promotion are mostly based on word of mouth, therefore the service quality will also promote the brand reputation.
So most of it is about whether you can do it or not, rather than what you don't want to do.

When freelancers are financially speaking, they will focus on their schedule.
They will first scrutinize the client's needs, and if there is a conflict with their "views," or if they want to relax for a while and do something personal, they have a high probability of refusing the task.

In the risk and the economic return, the entity entrepreneur's risk is higher, while the freelancer faces a smaller risk.

Real economy entrepreneurs in the early stage will have a big investment, if want to make a profit, first need to ensure to cover the investment, so there will be many entrepreneurial failure investors appear in debt, which may be a fatal blow to some people, the accumulation of debt can even create a vicious circle.

Freelancing does not require a lot of economic investment, but if the relationship is likely to appear no one to entrust you, causing the situation cannot survive, then you need to go out and continue to work for others.

But in any case, this is much better than carrying the debt.

The above is about the difference between entrepreneurs and freelancers. It can be seen that in either direction, there are pros and cons.

Even if we are working for someone else and want to switch to one of these two, I suggest that when you resign, you must consider what kind of situation you are in and analyze carefully.

I've seen a lot of these successes over the years, and I've seen them failed, and I've seen some examples that are still struggling to maintain.

I also know that some freelancers can balance their work and family well, and are very satisfied with their current life status.

I've seen people who quit their jobs full-time and publish their own novels, and others quit their jobs to write, and they feel the sense of reality and return to the workplace.

Everyone's path is their own choice, the right way for others does not necessarily suit us. Starting a business or doing freelancing is both a good and an integral one.

Before you make any decisions, think about whether you really fit in.
