Audacity Tutorial 27 - How to use the Echo Effect

In this Audacity tutorial we will be looking at Echo. Echo is an effect that is used on most music recording, but can also be useful in many other projects such as sound design for TV and theatre.

The Echo effect is exactly as it's name implies - it creates echo! The Echo effect in Audacity is very simple and easy to use. There are a couple of variables we can control to customize the sound exactly the way we like.

Like Reverb and EQ, you can use Echo to create your own signature sound when producing your music. Audacity allows you to find tune your echo sound then save it as a preset to use in future projects.

Audacity Tutorial - How to use the Echo Effect

Procedure:

The Echo effect in Audacity is a sound treatment which allows us to use an original recording to create echo. Time delay on the echo (Delay time) and the rate at which it fades away (Decay factor) can be altered to make an exact echo pattern you need.

In this video tutorials I go over most of these settings and explain how they are used.

When the Echo Effect and the Reverb Effect are combined some very impressive sonic environments can be created using Audacity.
