The Lotus Elite was presented at the London Motor Car Show in 1957, light two seater coupé produced between 1958 and 1963 for the first series. Colin Chapman, Lotus' founder and design engineer, wanted to challenge the automotive establishment with this racing car and its fiberglass monocoque chassis.

This model was given to Jim Clark, two-time Formula 1 World Champion and Indianapolis 500 winner, in payment for his services as driver for Team Lotus.

In 2012, the car was fully restored with its original colour scheme of Primrose Yellow with silver roof.
