1973 Porsche 911 2.4 E Targa

Later this year, in Pebble Beach (California), Gooding & Company will bring to auction block this stunning 1973 Porsche 911 2.4 E Targa in its original yellow color for about $US 150,000.

History of the Porsche 911 Targa

In the 60's, Porsche wanted to make a fully open convertible for the US market but had some doubts about the NHTSA (US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) would be agree. So the 911 Targa had a stainless steel clad roll bar to improve the security of the car.

The name comes from Targa Florio, open road endurance automobile race held in Sicily between 1906 and 1977. For the production's year of this 911 E, only 2,421 examples were produced in either coupé or Targa form. This E Targa came with some luxury options :

The Porsche 911 E Targa has a 2,341cc SOHC Air-Cooled Flat 6 cylinders engine with 5-Speed Manual Transaxle producing 165 hp at 6,200 rpm. The car had 4 wheel disc brakes with independent torsion bar suspension.

The car was fully restored for $US 134,000** and finished in original Signal Yellow with sport seats. Simply beautiful...
