This unique and unusual 1953 Glasspar G2 will heading to auction through RM Sotheby's during its Amelia Island Sale in March for about $US 70,000.
I didn't know the automotive manufacturer Glasspar, always fun to learn about American cars in 50's.
History of the Glasspar G2
Glasspar was founded in 1947 by Bill Tritt, Southern California marine architect who used fiberglass as a material in order to build boats at first, then fiberglass bodies for cars.
The Glasspar G2 is a sports body car presented in 1959 and produced between 1950 and 1953 with a total production of approximately 150 examples. It was the first production all-fiberglass car body (before the Chevrolet’s Corvette). Glasspar only sold the body with or without the chassis. Very few cars were produced complete...

Specification
This Glasspar G2 is equipped with a 291-cu inline DeSoto Hemi engine. The transmission and the rear axle come from a 1940 Ford.
The car was completely restored in 2010 by Hatfield Restoration.
No more than 30 Glasspar G2 remain on the road... Unique ride.
