My part begins here......

Rounding the corner, Elexius came face to face with the huge beast he saw a hundred yards away from earlier; its deep red eyes bright amidst the black hole that served as its sockets.

Surprised, he jumped back in shock, only for the beast to mimic his actions. He tilted his head and the beast tilted its head as well, almost as if it were his mirror image.

Dazed, mostly due to the hunger he was feeling, he slowly lifted his hand and only briefly registered the sharp talons protruding from his now black fingers.

Have you ever felt like you've forgotten who you truly are?

That voice, he knew that voice in his head. It called to him, using a name he'd barely grasped; a wisp of memory of something he should remember.

Cautiously, his raised hand inched closer to his mirror image. The surface rippled upon contact, slowly forming an image.

A kitchen, warm and inviting, with food laid out on the table as if preparing for a feast.

It was sucking him in, this portal. He didn't fight it, he couldn't control himself much longer, he was so close to the food he could pratically taste it!

On the other side, his hand started to look normal again. The hand of a man, a man who bore great power. That's when he heard a voice from the other side, "He has come back! O Elexius, the Grand Wizard! He has survived the Harrows of Hunger!"

He was starting to remember now, it was time to come home.

This is my first try in doing a partner we-write exercise. Thank you for the experience. Thank you as well to my teammate in writing. I hope that I was able to give justice to the character that you had in mind.
