Cryptocoin Wirewrap Art piece finished (Pic heavy)

Hello Steemian Crypto-enthusiasts

Those of you following my recent blog posts will know I have been working on some cryptocurrency based art.

I was inspired after reading through the @slothicorn blog. Most of the slothicorn tagged posts i found were digital crypto-art at that time so I thought it would be a bit of a personal challenge to try and create some real world cryptocurrency art.
I went with the medium i'm most comfortable with, wire wrapped copper. I hope you enjoy the outcome.

The process

Here's a bit of the creating process i went through, I only got one photo half way through the wrapping as, if i'm honest, I actually didn't like where it was going and thought i'd end up abandoning the design before the end!

This is the finished wrap, all shiny and clean.

I made the decision to get the liver of sulphur out and blacken up the copper as it gives the metal more depth and generally looks better, in my opinion anyway! Here's a little bit on that process.

After about 20 seconds in the liver of sulphur solution this is the level of blackening i was after. The trick with this stage is to take the piece out of the solution and plunge it into cold water as soon as the desired level of patina is reached. the cold water is essential to stop the reaction between chemical and metal continuing.

Next i take fine steel wool and gently rub away at the patina that has formed on the copper. This process i liken to how dry brushing works in painting. the steel wool catches the highest points on the metal leaving the deeper areas dark. As you can see it adds loads of depth.

I cleaned up the coin more than the rest as it is the focal point and has some nice details i wanted to be visable.

And thats it, 1 of 20 coins put to good use!

I'm not sure what to do with this piece now it's finished. Do I sell it, auction it off for Steem or perhaps do another giveaway competition?! If you're interested in buying something a little bit different for your wall or mantlepiece get in touch. I'd love for this to go to a cryptocurrency enthusiast through Steemit if possible.
