An Update on My Portugal Adventures - - I Might Have Found My House

Yesterday afternoon, my sister, her boyfriend, their two kids and dog accompanied me to a house that I consider buying, in Monte Frio, Portugal.

Although the name of this hamlet literally translates to Cold Mountain, it isn't necessarily a very cold place. And - being born and raised in Holland - I can say I know what cold means, so when it gets cold for Portuguese standards, I'm sure I will be able to pull through.

I have been looking for my own place for a long, long time. I'm 36 and I never owned a house. I always rented, lived with family or spent time abroad.

In fact, the last two years, after quitting my job as a teacher and leaving Rotterdam, I have stayed on The Canary islands for 6 months, then in The Netherlands at my twin sister's place, then at a small bungalow of friends of my parents, at my sister's place again, followed by cat and house sitting at a friend of my sister's, at my sister's again, then at my parents house and finally, since february this year in: Germany ( Berlin ), Spain ( Madrid, Granada, Ronda, Tarifa, Sevilla ) and since April this year in Portugal. First in a caravan at an Airbnb, then a couple of weeks with my sister and her family, then for a while on a camping and now, the last month or so, I have camping in a little tent in the garden of my sister's new place.

Long story short, it was fun ( most of the time ) but I'm really craving for my own place. I am finally looking forward to settling down, some routine. Two words that I thought weren't meant for me.

In the video, attached to this post, you see the ground floor of the house that I visited yesterday. There's a little bathroom, a tiny bedroom ( the size of a closet ) and a master bedroom. If you climb the stairs, there's a kitchen area with a fireplace and a lounge area/ sitting room with a balcony. The view from the balcony is breathtaking and one of the main reasons why I felt like living here. On the same floor, there's also another small bedroom.

There's yet another stairway, leading up to an attic space. Not too bad for a single guy, right?

I can't wait to get my hands on this place and to actually start living there. I'm getting awfully close to that, and am already looking forward to sharing my future posts from there. I have no doubt that it will inspire me a lot and will make me creativity blossom like never before. Not just the mountain view, but also the awesome forest and waterfall that can - apparently - be found on walking distance.

I am seriously considering to start painting.

Also, if you're one of my Steemian friends and you manage to travel to Portugal, you will be extremely welcome as one of my guests. I will take good care of you and might make you a fan of Portugal too, who knows?
