The Chivo beach, at the exit of the Havana Bay tunnel, is one of the places par excellence for the observation of seabirds, with the city in the background, which gives the photographed landscape a special brightness and charm. However, this is complemented by the presence of fishermen at work, which is very interesting to see. Both times I have been there I have tried to capture the dynamics of the place and I was also able to talk to some of them.

They have been going to this coastal area for years to look for sustenance for their families, and the tradition is passed on from generation to generation. This is palpable there, if you stop and watch them for a while as I did, sitting on a rock, one of those that juts out into the water.

From my "islet" I thought of the simple lives of children, young and old, weather-beaten by sun and salt, who meet every day to share experiences and knowledge. I suppose they find it rewarding in many ways because they are animated and engaged in their chores with great devotion. I spent a long time observing their fishing gear, their clothing, appropriate depending on the possibilities of each one, to be out there on the water, under the inclement sun from the early hours of the morning.

At some point during my stay there I thought that this landscape had found me and not the other way around. So I celebrated in the way those of us who cultivate this passion for photography do, and my heart was filled with joy. --- _{Original content by @nanixxx.} _{All rights reserved ©, 2025.
