When we were young, we always want to grow up quickly, do what we want to do, always feel that time is moving too slow;
When we grow up, we live in a busy life, days after days, years after years, we hope that the time can slow down.
Our growth seems to be exerted with time magic.

So why is time flies faster as we grow up?
Physiological aspects
The release of dopamine
Neurologists research showed that dopamine could help us perceive time, and as we grow older, especially after the age of 20, the release of dopamine gives us the illusion that time is running faster.
In the early 1897, a French philosopher, Paul Janet, has a theory of the speed of human psychological perception of time lapse. In short, one year of time in the memory of the proportion of people are not the same. For example, when you are one year old, one year is your whole life. When you are 50 years old, one year is only 2% of your life.
In this way, the longer your life, the smaller the proportion of the 1-year period.
So we can put out a scary conclusion, a 5-year-old child wait for Christmas for 24 days, is equivalent to a 54-year-old person waiting for one year.

Metabolic Rate Changes
As we grow older, our biological clocks are changing so much that our metabolism slows down our heartbeat and respiration. And the child's heart breathing is fast, meaning that in the same time, there will be more heartbeat and the number of breaths, to some extent, they mistakenly think that time has been long.
Finally, when we go into old age, our body's metabolic level drops to the lowest point in every stage, so we feel the time measurement is stretched.
Psychological aspects
Increased proficiency in basic survival skills
As we grew older, the frequency with which we learned basic skills in our childhood increased, allowing us to accomplish what we could in a shorter time.
Increased anxiety will make us more sensitive to external perception.
When we were young, things that we were worried about is just begging mom let us watch more TV.
When we become adults, work, parents, kids, interpersonal and other pressure make us anxious, our subconscious hope that time is "faster" so that our anxiety can be alleviated.
So our perception of time becomes sensitive is one of the reasons that time becomes faster, and it means we know how to cherish the time.

After rational analysis, in the end, it is a perceptual problem
Einstein had a classic explanation for his theory of relativity.
"You're having dinner with a pretty girl for 1 hour, but you feel like you've been here for only 10 minutes; You've been running for 10 minutes under the hot sun, but it feels like an hour."
Time flies, and we will grow.
We try hard to make time go slower, but it is time that makes us want to become the one that we wanted to be when we were young.
Time seems to have endless magic, we spent a lifetime, and we may not know its secret. But it brings the experience that will not be devalued, in the fast and slow time, polished a unique self.
As long as you tried, you will have no regrets.
