In my post where I reported about the first week of the Dreemport's 6 Week Challenge, I mentioned my intention to add another 15 minutes goals to improve my English language to facilitate my reading and writing skills.

The second week for the challenge has already begun on Monday 7th March. Despite my intention of adding the task, I couldn't work on it in the early two days of the week. I realized unless I would create a slot for the task in my routine I was never going to start it. So, today, on Wednesday, March 9th, I decided to quit on one activity to start the other. Hehe. Actually, I had have an hour for providing engagement on the platform, I decided to utilize that time to learn new vocabulary and its usage. Engagement is important, I know; but improvement in the language is also important to increase my speed at reading and facilitate better understanding (of others writings) and expression (in my writings). I think, I need to be smarter in my routine management, so that I can be consistent both at engagement and learning new vocabulary.

Well, let me tell you about the strategy I have decided to work on for improving my Language. The 15 minutes task is further divided into three slots of 5 minutes each.

I selected an article (post) from Hive and read it for 5 minutes. During this reading, I kept on writing those words on a card of which I didn't know the exact meaning. After the five minutes were over, I opened google dictionary and looked for the meaning of those words. I wrote both the English meaning and urdu translation of the words on the same cards.

By the way, it took me more than 10 minutes to look for the meaning of 10 words and another five minutes to revise them. So for the next time, I have decided to limit the words to 5 or 6 words so that the task may be finished in 15 minutes, and I would be sure of memorizing whatever I read that day.Slow but steady wins the race. It's of no use to flood oneself with too much information and having little at the end. Instead, the right way is to gather bit by bit but with consistency so that it may accumulate gradually and retain forever.

After memorizing those words, I read the same article again (last 5 minutes). This time I was able to understand it better. Also, the vocabulary I had learned became stronger in my memory. At some instances I had to revise the meaning of the words from the cards, and that's why I realized 10 words cannot be learnt by heart in 15 minutes.

For tomorrow onwards, I have the plan to read an editorial from a newspaper instead of reading a random article on a blog. It is because, the writings in the editorial of reknowned newspaper are sure to be grammatically correct. Moreover, reading a writer from my own origin (belonging to my native language) is easier to understand.

So, these are the steps I have decided to thrive in the world of writing. Suggestions are welcome in the comment section

Thanks for reading
