Have you heard your friends and partners talking about their comfort foods? Admit it or not, we have a list of the dishes and meals that satisfy our taste buds every time we get to eat them. Have you heard about stress-eating? It is a state when someone eats a lot when they feel stressed or when anxiety is kicking in. And I am guilty as charged.
Whenever I feel sad, I can feel the cravings for particular foods, which I share with everyone on this food blog. I know that people have different sets of meals that they want when they are feeling down and drained. Some want sweets, but some also desire junk foods. Since I already mentioned the content of this blog, let me start sharing with you and explain why I love the foods I will attach to this piece.
- Sizzling Pork Sisig
I always loved the sizzling pork sisig. There is no particular restaurant for the best servings because I will always choose my Papa’s homemade recipe for this one. Aside from me, my partner and my brothers also love this, especially when it’s spicy. What you will see in the picture is a shot of the servings when we ate at one of the local food stalls in our town. It is just a tiny restaurant, but we loved their version of sizzling pork sisig. One order of this viand can be good for two people.
- Carbonara with Chicken Fillet
I wanted spaghetti more compared to Carbonara before. But after a few years, I started loving Carbonara partnered with chicken fillet. I found this perfect meal, and I loved this combo because it is budget-friendly. It only costs less than $2. Also, I love the creamy sauce of this pasta.
- Shawarma / Shawarma Rice
I got the cravings for Shawarma from my Mama because it is her all-time favorite. When I tasted one before, I could not forget about it, and there were moments when I craved it. I like the tastiness of this food. Since I had already tried different versions and recipes of Shawarma, my partner and I also wanted to savor the hype of Shawarma Rice. And we did not regret trying it. As you can see, we always had fries as our side dish. It is because my partner loves it.
- Egg Sandwich with Coffee
There are days when I only crave light and quick meals. I have a friend who is also my coffee buddy. He sometimes asks me out and picks me up for a quick sip of coffee with some egg sandwich. I had a chance to capture my order before we started our conversation while having our cup of coffee. Also, it is from our favorite coffee shop too.
- Pancit Guisado
One of the comfort foods that will never be out of my list is Pancit Guisado. Most Filipinos know this, and it is one of the typical meals here in our country. I love it when it has many veggies. And, of course, I will never forget how it tastes better when partnered with Shanghai. Sometimes I love it with some bread, especially for breakfast.
- Chicken Wings
Last year, my partner and I tried different chicken wings flavors, including Buffalo, Garlic Parmesan, and Teriyaki. Several restaurants offer promos, like unlimited chicken wings and rice. It is the starting point of loving this. The photo I attached is when we ordered the flavors Teriyaki and Garlic Parmesan – the two favorites.
- Any Food from Chowking
Sometimes we like to watch movies at the cinema, which means we have to hit the road to the city. Whenever we hop out of the bus and choose a fast-food to eat, Chowking is always the first choice. My partner loves their Sweet & Sour Pork, while I like their Chao Fan and Pancit Canton.
- Cheesy Foods
My partner loves cheese, and I think I got my addiction to cheesy foods from him. Recently, one of our comfort foods is meals and dishes with a lot of cheese. It is why you can see below how we ordered different servings of foods, but they have one thing in common: cheese.
That’s it!
Did you end up having a watery mouth? I apologize for sharing these yummy and tasty foods with everyone, especially if they triggered cravings. Anyway, I hope we have similarities in foods that give us happiness and comfort whenever we eat them.
Thank you for reading. See you on my next blog!
