Officer Ramirez trailed off as she looked up from her files and noticed her two best agents glaring at each other from across her desk.

"Were you two even listening to what I said?" She may have been a couple decades older than these two, but she'd whoop their asses if they ended up making a mess in her office.

The man to her left let out an exasperated sigh then said, "Why of all people here in the division, should I be partnered with her?" as he tilted his head gesturing to the woman beside him.

Just as Officer Ramirez could deflect the question, the woman to her right replied in a sickly sweet voice, "What's wrong Xavier, having doubts of 'getting back together'?" She air quoted her last three words while sneering at him.

Again, Officer Ramirez was cut off by Xavier's retort, "I'm not the one who walked away from our 'intimate partnership', Madison." Leaning in, he stared heatedly at her, his hands clenched on his knees.

Before things escalated, Officer Ramirez slammed her hand down on her desk.

Prompt 2
"Are you both talking about the same thing?"

The two agents in question had the decency to look embarrassed and straightened in their seats, but still glanced at each other cautiously.

Huffing as she settled back in her chair and crossing her arms over her chest, Officer Ramirez continued, "You're the best in your fields and I'll be damned if this case doesn't get solved just 'cause there's trouble in paradise."

She stared both of them in the eyes before continuing, "The Big Guys want this over and done with by the end of the week."

The two tensed and grew rigid, but before Officer Ramirez could further dish out the details, there was a knock at the door.

Prompt 3
a long blond hair

poked out of the doorway and promptly said, "Hey Vivian! Hope I'm not too late!"

It took a while for Officer Ramirez to register that the guy called her by her first name, just as he sauntered inside her office in that jazzy way she was all too familiar with.

Standing, she clasped his shoulder and turned to her two agents with a grimace.

"Meet Kennedy Sims, he'll be funding our latest case."
