Excelente iniciativa de la comunidad de Family&Friends, pues escribir sobre nuestros abuelos es algo emotivo, además estamos escribiendo del pasado para el futuro, ya que todos vamos a envejecer y algunos seremos abuelos.

Además, saber que esta iniciativa, aportara para los abuelitos que se encuentran en el Asilo Santo Domingo, tiene una buena vibra y de corazón deseo para todos esos abuelitos, consigan su propósito y experiencia de vida.

En gratitud, con mi amigo @omarcito, quien me invito a participar en esta noble iniciativa, y siguiendo su ejemplo: voy a invitar a: @yerf2712 @nina81 y @youngmusician para que hablen de sus abuelos y apoyemos esta noble causa.

Comenzare por las damas: Y es que mi madre, era una beba de solo 2 años, cuando su madre, mi abuela Oliva, murió. Así que ella creció con mi abuelo, quien se volvió a casar con una mujer de nombre Oliva, si tenia el mismo nombre, y ella le dio a mi madre 3 hermanos. De manera que ella fue como mi abuela, y fue una mujer muy cariñosa, siempre recuerdo que al visitarlos al estado Táchira, específicamente en Rubio, nos preparaba café con leche y pan dulce, una merienda deliciosa, que desde niño me encanto. Ella fue una ama de casa muy dedicada, era bastante mas joven que mi abuelo Francisco, quien era un hombre muy alto, de piel morena, y ojos claros, muy elegante, su pulcritud al vestir lo era todo. Siempre trabajo en áreas administrativas, gubernamentales y privadas. No recuerdo que tuviera alguna profesión especifica, pero era muy culto. Nosotros vivíamos en Barinas, y a pesar de ser estados vecinos, lo visitábamos poco, quizás una vez al año, así que lo poco que lo veíamos, él nos consentía comprándonos chucherías y mirándonos jugar. Mi madre nos contaba que era un hombre muy parco y de carácter recio. Pero yo no llegue a conocer esa faceta.

Yo le conocí mas dulce y llevadero, los años lo habían hecho más dócil, y conversábamos de noticias y del acontecer nacional. Él vivió hasta los 98 años y mi abuela Oliva esta muy bien y vive con uno de mis tíos.

Por el lado de mi padre, Conte con mi Abuelo Pedro, de donde viene mi nombre, y mi abuela María Carlina, ambos eran un ejemplo de trabajo, nunca los llegue a ver ociosos, les gustaba trabajar, y disfrutaban del trabajo. Ambos trabajaron la agricultura por muchos años en el estado Táchira y ya de mayores se mudaron del campo a la ciudad de Maracay, pero igual conservaban ese espíritu trabajador que los caracterizo, ellos tuvieron 12 hijos, de los cuales mi padre, es el quinto de la camada. Bueno con tantos hijos, tenían que trabajar bastante… pues por el lado de mi padre, todos son trabajadores, con ese ejemplo que tenían.

Actualmente ellos ya están en otro plano, pero puedo contar cosas que recuerdo, el color favorito de mi abuelo era el marrón, para una ocasión en la que debía ir a una fiesta, el color del traje era marrón, la camisa beige y la corbata marrón, zapatos marrones con medias marrones y mi abuelo estaba muy feliz, por que estaba vestido con su color favorito.

Puedo recordar como las manos de mi abuelo reflejaban la fuerza del trabajo, mostraba las cicatrices y deformaciones en los dedos, producto de trabajar por tantos años, tenia una actitud muy positiva, no lo escuchaba quejarse, y era un hombre de hogar, no salía de casa sin mi abuela.

Mi abuela María Carlina, era una mujer de temple, tenia mucha fuerza física, recuerdo de niño, ella nos cuidaba, ya que mis padre tenían que viajar desde Barinas a Caracas, por motivos de estudios, y durante una tormenta muy fuerte, una de las laminas del techo fue arrancada por el viento, y la cantidad de agua que entraba era impresionante, yo tenia unos 3 o 4 años, pero tengo la imagen grabada, de mi abuela montada en el techo colocando otra lamina, que no sé de dónde saco, o si era la misma que el viento levanto, y la fijo con bloques y alambres, en medio de la noche ella sola. Era una mujer pragmática, nada de rollos, “si esto se hace así, lo hacemos y ya, se hizo”. Con ella no había cuentos de hadas, pero tenías la protección de un ejército completo, velaba por el sueño de sus nietos con gran amor y dedicación.

Ambos vivieron siempre en el seno familiar, contaron con nuestra compañía, no llegaría a llevar a mis abuelos a un asilo, eso es una decisión que cada familia debe tomar, no creo que sea malo o bueno, es solo lo que corresponde con la experiencia de vida de cada persona, sin embargo, mi opinión, es que mientras puedan estar dentro del seno familiar, será mejor.

No me extenderé más, pero los abuelos son esa parte de nosotros, que nos hace ser más nobles, más valientes y trabajadores. Nos vemos en un próximo Post, un abrazo fraterno para todos.

I knew him as a sweeter and more bearable person, the years had made him more docile, and we talked about news and national events. He lived to be 98 years old and my grandmother Oliva is doing very well and lives with one of my uncles.

I can remember how my grandfather's hands reflected the strength of his work, he showed the scars and deformities in his fingers, product of working for so many years, he had a very positive attitude, I never heard him complain, and he was a man of home, he never left home without my grandmother.

My grandmother Maria Carlina, was a woman of temper, she had a lot of physical strength, I remember as a child, she took care of us, since my parents had to travel from Barinas to Caracas, for reasons of studies, and during a very strong storm, one of the sheets of the roof was torn off by the wind, and the amount of water that came in was impressive, I was about 3 or 4 years old, but I have the image engraved, of my grandmother mounted on the roof placing another sheet, that I don't know where she got it from, or if it was the same one that the wind lifted, and fixed it with blocks and wires, in the middle of the night by herself. She was a pragmatic woman, no bullshit, "if this is the way to do it, we do it and that's it, it's done". With her there were no fairy tales, but you had the protection of a whole army, she watched over her grandchildren's sleep with great love and dedication.

I would not take my grandparents to a nursing home, that is a decision that each family must make, I do not think it is bad or good, it is only what corresponds to the life experience of each person, however, my opinion is that as long as they can be within the family, it will be better.
