Hoy quiero invitarles a una iniciativa; porque he participado en muchas y creo que ya es hora de que yo también les regale un reto. Primero, debo disculparme, pues se trata de una aventura difícil; solo para valientes. Ja, Ja. Puede que un poco desatinada y con un alto grado de insuficiencia documental. _“Muchos años después, frente al pelotón de fusilamiento, el coronel Aureliano Buendía recordó aquella tarde lejana en que su padre lo llevó a descubrir el hielo”_. Cuando en la Universidad leí por obligación “Cien años de soledad”, de Gabriel García Márquez, esta frase tan simple y profunda, marcó mi vida. Fue una de esas veces en que me digo: …si eso es justo lo que pensaba…, y mira cómo este tío ha venido a resumirlo de manera tan genial. Te comenté en otra publicación en la que hablaba sobre mi hija, que uno de mis tesoros más preciados son las primeras veces en que ella ha conocido algo a mi lado. Teniendo en cuenta esta riqueza que albergo de padre feliz, he querido invitarlos hoy a participar de esta iniciativa. Cuando conocí el Teatro --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- En mi infancia no era común la palabra Teatro. Nací en un pueblo de campo, casi a los pies de las montañas más bellas de la isla: El Escambray. También, por aquellos años, muchos de los tesoros arquitectónicos de los tiempos de la República habían desaparecido o estaban en desuso… Como El Teatro Baroja, que era la Biblioteca Municipal de Fomento, mi tierra natal. Las veces que visité un Teatro fue con mi padre en la ciudad de Santa Clara, o con mi familia en los viajes a La Habana. Como una manera de compensar las pérdidas, supongo, a mi pueblo venía un gitano como Melquíades, pero este, con un carro Cine-Rodante. Si les soy franco, no estoy claro si esta fue la primera vez que presencié una obra de Teatro, pero es lo que más amo y aquello que primero salta a la memoria cuando pienso en mi primera vez. También podéis acusarme de no haber estado en un Teatro, ni siquiera un retablo existía… No presencié a los actores en vivo, ni me senté en una butaca, pues nuestra platea era el césped del estadio deportivo. El Gitano, quien esa vez no traía una peli, la presentó como una obra de Teatro que criticaba una sociedad fría y triste, deshumanizada… Yo, por supuesto que no entendí nada, como tampoco supe a ciencia cierta si era de verdad o fantasía. Trataba de un Señor llamado Papá Goriot, que vivía en una casa de pensiones similar a la que vivía yo en aquellos años. La mía se llamaba Bar las Piedras, y aún se conserva el edificio en mi pueblo… Despreciado por sus hijas, terminó muriendo solo y abadonado, como no debe morir nunca un padre… Me dije. Cómo saber que años más tarde leería esa novela como parte del currículo estudiantil. Pero aquella noche lloré. Sí. Cursaba el quinto o sexto grado y lloré amargamente. Mientras mi madre intentaba preguntarme la razón, yo miraba nuestra forma de vida -éramos 7 familias en aquel aparthotel de dos pisos, y sin saber con exactitud, en mi alma de niño pobre, el por qué de aquellos sentimientos a flor de piel. Como niño al fin, a la mañana siguiente, en pleno matutino grité: ¡Ya nos veremos las caras, París! Evguenia, el amor de mi vida de primaria, me preguntó con cara de loca: ¿y eso que significa? Ni p. idea, le respondí. Desde niño he leído mucha literatura y visto mucho cine, pero jamás he podido compararles con la poesía del teatro. Yo era un niño inteligente, pero introvertido. Desde aquel día llegué a ser el estudiante que se prestaba para todo, que memorizaba poemas, declamaba en la mayoría de los escenarios escolares y leía como invitado en una tabaquería que ya no existe. Ya te conté mi **Primera vez al Teatro**. Ahora quiero invitarte a que me cuentes tú primera vez; o, si no la recuerdas, cuéntame sobre aquella visita que te ha impactado sobremanera. Quiero conocer tus experiencias más íntimas con el Teatro; las que más te han hecho crecer como persona. Initiative When I Discovered the Theater

Dear #hive family, first of all, thank you so much for sharing and reading. Today I want to invite you to an initiative; because I've participated in many, and I think it's time I gave you a challenge too. I told you in another post about my daughter that one of my most precious treasures is the first times she's experienced something by my side. Considering this wealth I harbor as a happy father, I wanted to invite you today to participate in this initiative.

When I Discovered the Theater

In my childhood, the word "theater" wasn't common. I was born in a rural town, almost at the foot of the island's most beautiful mountains: the Escambray Mountains. Also, in those years, many of the architectural treasures from the time of the Republic had disappeared or were no longer in use... Like the Baroja Theater, which was the Biblioteca Municipal de Fomento (Municipal Library of Fomento), my hometown. The times I visited a theater were with my father in the city of Santa Clara, or with my family on trips to Havana. As a way of compensating for the losses, I suppose, a gypsy like Melquíades came to my town, but this one with a rolling car. To be honest, I'm not sure if this was the first time I saw a play, but it's what I love most and what first comes to mind when I think of my first time. You can also accuse me of never having been to a theater; there wasn't even a stage set… I didn't see the actors live, nor did I sit in a seat, as our audience was the grass of the sports stadium. The Gypsy, who didn't have a movie with him this time, presented it as a play that criticized a cold, sad, dehumanized society… I, of course, didn't understand anything, nor did I know for sure if it was real or fantasy. It was about a man named Papa Goriot, who lived in a boarding house similar to the one I lived in at the time. How did I know that years later I would read that novel as part of the student curriculum? But that night I cried. Yes. I was in fifth or sixth grade and I wept bitterly. While my mother tried to ask me the reason, I looked at our way of life—we were seven families in that two-story apartment hotel—and without knowing exactly, in my poor child's soul, the reason for those feelings on the surface. Like a child at last, the next morning, in the middle of the morning, I shouted: "We'll see each other again, Paris!" Evguenia, the love of my elementary school life, asked me with a crazy expression: "What does that mean?" I had no idea, I replied. Since I was a child, I've read a lot of literature and watched a lot of movies, but I've never been able to compare them to the poetry of theater. I was an intelligent but introverted child. From that day on, I became the student who was up for everything, who memorized poems, recited on most school stages, and guest-read at a tobacco shop that no longer exists.
