Saludos estimados amigos de #hiveargentina, de nuevo estoy de vuelta en esta comunidad para participar en el concurso [Perros de la calle: ¿un problema o una oportunidad? - Street dogs: a problem or an opportunity? || Iniciativa]( https://hive.blog/spanish/@hiveargentina/perros-de-la-calle-un-problema-o-una-oportunidad-street-dogs-a-problem-or-an-opportunity-oror-iniciativa). Invito a participar a @aurodivys y @carisma77. Que haya un efemérides por los perros callejeros está bien, pero pienso que además de eso, hayan otro tipo de acciones para que no solo se trate de un día para mencionarlos. El problema está en la sensibilidad humana, en quienes no ven a los perros como seres vivos que sufren y padecen. Hay personas que no le gustan los animales y eso se respeta, lo importantes es que no los maltraten.

Por otra parte, hay personas que solo compran perros por ser de raza, pero cuando se enferman o le caen plagas como garrapatas o pulgas, los abandonan a su suerte. Sea la raza que sea, los perros no deben ser abandonados, ellos no pueden atenderse solos cuando se enferman. Pienso que el amor, la compasión y la sensibilidad es una forma de evitar la proliferación de perros callejeros. En atención a las preguntas de esta iniciativa, voy a responder cada una de ellas.

¿Has ayudado a algún animal en situación de calle?

La respuesta es sí y a muchos. Desde que tengo uso de razón en la casa ha habido perros. Así que todas las mascotas que estaban en casa eran producto de los partos de las hembras. Luego, después de muchos años rescaté a una perrita que deambulaba por la calle en un febrero muy frío, la llamé Sisi. Luego rescaté una perrita como de 3 meses y le conseguí hogar. Cada vez que podía llegué a ayudar a algunos cachorros que afortunadamente encontraron morada. Me uní a varias fundaciones para ayudar a perros y gatos, todas registradas en Facebook y llegué a dar hogar temporal. También llegué a ayudar a perros que llegaron cerca de mi casa, les daba agua, comida y refugio cuando había mucho sol o eran épocas de lluvia.

Eso perros vivían en la calle y se sentían libres como el viento, solo pasaban ratos en mi casa y buscaban algo de comida, pero no se querían quedar. Eso sí, los ayudé cuando estuvieron heridos o se enfermaron. Las ayudas más recientes fueron Coco, Balto y Negrito. Mi perrita Muñeca fue adoptada hace casi 7 años, vivía en la calle, yo le daba comida y agua, pero cuando entró en celo, no la quise dejar en la calle a merced de los otros perros. Allí empezaría una nueva camada para seguir viviendo en la calle. [El caso de Coco](https://hive.blog/hive-196708/@hylene74/cocos-story-eng-esp), lo abandonaron y llegó al sitio de mi lugar de trabajo, allí le daban algo de comida y agua, pero no era feliz, ni tenía la atención que necesitaba. Me [lo traje a casa por unos días](https://hive.blog/hive-196708/@hylene74/cocos-story-part-ii-coco-comes-home) y al final se quedó, ya tiene casi 2 años conmigo.

Tiempo después, vi a un perrito abandonado con la pata hinchada, me propuse a [ayudarlo y luego le encontré hogar](https://hive.blog/hive-196708/@hylene74/and-they-named-him-balto-another-rescued-puppy-eng-esp), [lo llamaron Balto](https://hive.blog/hive-196708/@hylene74/remember-balto-i-went-to-see-him-and-he-is-very-happy-engesp-484). Recientemente, estuve ayudando a un cachorrito que yo le puse Negrito, afortunadamente una alma piadosa le dio hogar. El perrito estaba herido y no tenía apetito. No solo yo lo ayudé, la gente de mi comunidad fue piadosa y el perrito recibió cariño y atención en los pocos días que estuvo en la calle, gracias a Dios fueron muy pocos.

¿Conoces alguna organización que se encargue del rescate de perros callejeros?

En mi país, Venezuela, un proyecto llamado Misión Nevado que encarga de dar atención veterinaria gratuita a perros y gatos. Esta Misión organizada por el Gobierno Nacional es de gran ayuda para quienes no tienen recursos económicos para pagar consultas veterinarias. Por otra parte, a veces la Misión Nevado realiza jornadas de vacunación, desparasitación y esterilización, además de consultas, una buena opción para nuestras mascotas y ayudar a los que viven en condición de calle. Sin embargo, no rescata perros como tal, no ofrece refugios, eso solo está a cargo de personas piadosas que de manera voluntaria procuran hogar temporal o la adopción.

¿Consideras que la esterilización es suficiente para ayudar a los perros de la calle?

Forma parte de la solución, pero no lo erradica. La mejor ayuda a parte de la castración es darles un hogar lleno de cuidados y cariño. La castración evita peleas y perros heridos que luego mueren por falta de atención veterinaria.

¿Adoptarías a un perro callejero?

Si lo haría, lo hecho tres veces, con Muñeca, Coco y la que ya se fue, Sisi. .

¿Es verdad que un perro callejero adoptado resulta más dócil y agradecido que uno comprado?

Pienso que no, los perros son agradecidos por naturaleza y forman un vínculo inquebrantable con quienes le brindan cariño, comida y abrigo, además de una mano amiga porque para ellos somos sus padres. Ellos no saben de dinero de por medio, solo de dar y recibir amor. Además, la personalidad es una algo que es muy particular, todos son diferentes, algunos más dóciles, otros más juguetones, otros son muy cariñosos, también los hay bravucones, celosos y territoriales. La personalidad y el agradecimiento son dos cosas muy distintas.

Estigmas con respecto a los perros callejeros

Algunos perros callejeros al no tener contacto con los humanos, no suelen ser sumisos, son ariscos y pueden ser portadores de enfermedades virales aunque no desarrollen síntomas. Por otra parte, es probable que tengan garrapatas y enfermedades en la piel. Muchos perros callejeros son cariñosos y tienen miedo porque los han maltratado, pero es cierto que al estar viviendo en las calles comiendo de la basura y bebiendo agua contaminada, desarrollen anticuerpos, no obstante, al ponerlos en contacto con perros sanos que no estén vacunados puedan enfermarlos. Por eso es importante que al ayudar a perros callejeros sean revisados por un veterinario, usar guantes y lavarse bien las manos. Have you helped a homeless animal?

The answer is yes, and to many. For as long as I can remember, there have been dogs in the house. So all the pets in the house were the product of female births. Then, after many years, I rescued a female dog that was wandering the streets one very cold February; I named her Sisi. Then I rescued a female dog that was about 3 months old and found her a home. Whenever I could, I helped some puppies that fortunately found homes. I joined several foundations to help dogs and cats, all registered on Facebook, and I even gave them temporary homes. I also helped dogs that arrived near my house, giving them water, food, and shelter during sunny or rainy seasons.

Those dogs lived on the streets and felt as free as the wind. They only spent time at my house looking for food, but they didn't want to stay. Of course, I helped them when they were hurt or sick. The most recent ones I helped were Coco, Balto, and Negrito. My dog Muñeca was adopted almost 7 years ago. She lived on the streets. I gave her food and water, but when she went into heat, I didn't want to leave her on the streets at the mercy of the other dogs. There she would start a new litter, allowing her to continue living on the streets. There they gave him food and water, but he wasn't happy, nor did he get the care he needed. Do you know any organization that rescues stray dogs?

In my country, Venezuela, there's a project called Misión Nevado (Nevado Mission) that provides free veterinary care to dogs and cats. This mission, organized by the national government, is a great help for those without the financial resources to pay for veterinary consultations. Furthermore, Misión Nevado sometimes holds vaccination, deworming, and sterilization programs, in addition to consultations, a good option for our pets and to help those living on the streets. However, it doesn't rescue dogs as such, nor does it offer shelters; that's solely the responsibility of compassionate individuals who voluntarily seek temporary homes or adoption.

Do you think sterilization is enough to help street dogs?

It's part of the solution, but it doesn't eradicate it. The best way to help, besides neutering, is to provide them with a loving and caring home. Neutering prevents fights and injured dogs that later die due to lack of veterinary care.

Yes I would do it, I've done it three times, with Muñeca, Coco and the one who already left, Sisi. .

Is it true that an adopted stray dog is more docile and grateful than a purchased one?

I don't think so. Dogs are grateful by nature and form an unbreakable bond with those who offer them affection, food, shelter, and a helping hand, because we are their parents. They don't understand money, only the giving and receiving of love. Furthermore, personality is something very unique; they are all different. Some are more docile, others more playful, others are very affectionate, and some are also aggressive, jealous, and territorial. Personality and gratitude are two very different things.

Stigmas regarding stray dogs

Some stray dogs, because they don't have contact with humans, tend not to be submissive; they are unsociable and can carry viral diseases even if they don't develop symptoms. Furthermore, they are likely to have ticks and skin diseases. Many stray dogs are affectionate and afraid of being mistreated, but it's true that living on the streets, eating garbage and drinking contaminated water, can develop antibodies. However, putting them in contact with healthy, unvaccinated dogs can make them sick. That's why it's important that when helping stray dogs, they be checked by a veterinarian, wear gloves, and wash their hands well.
