Con el pelo largo enredado, los ojos rojos por el mal dormir y el acné que nunca desapareció después de los 20. Abro el gabinete del baño para sacar la crema dental nueva y encuentro la caja rodeada de varios blíster con pastillas, frascos con el nombre de Sara y dos hojillas que usa para sacar cejas. El recuerdo me hiela la sangre. Cierro la puertecita con rapidez. Me vuelvo a mirar y suspiro. Recuerdo que estoy ahí para cepillarme, abro de nuevo el gabinete pero la caja de crema no está. Aunque hubiese jurado que la vi, solo están las pastillas y hojillas. Salgo al pasillo del apartamento, pensando que debo comprar otra crema y, recostada de espaldas, con un cuchillo en la mano y los brazos larguiruchos extendidos por todo el mesón, está Sara. Hace tanto silencio que no me había dado cuenta de su presencia.

I look at her side of the bed and it's empty. Then, I remember that in the evening she told me that in the morning she had to go to her parents' house. I stare at the place she occupies every night. Feeling the warmth, the hands, the saliva on the pillow. Wishing they were hers. I sigh, feeling the erection slowly start to form under my boxer shorts. Throbbing. Making itself noticeable as a clear wake-up call, "You're thinking of Aleli again." Doesn't her name evoke joy? Like a breath of air after passing through suffocation. Aleli. With her white complexion and black hair. Her fleeting, small walk. I think of her laughing at my jokes, her teeth a little crooked and yellow from coffee and cigarettes. I open the bathroom cabinet to take out the new toothpaste and find the box surrounded by several blister packs with pills, bottles with Sara's name on them and two blades she uses to pluck eyebrows. The memory chills my blood. I close the little door quickly. I turn to look at myself and sigh. I remember I'm there to brush, I open the cabinet again but the box of cream is gone. Even though I could have sworn I saw it, it's just the pills and blades. I go out into the hallway of the apartment, thinking I should buy another cream and, lying on her back with a knife in her hand and her lanky arms stretched across the counter, is Sara. It's so quiet that I hadn't noticed her.

A veces tiene crisis. Voces que le hablan y la hacen escribir cosas… Miró al vacío un rato. —Tiene arranques psicóticos. Asentí. —¿Qué te parece si hacemos esto más seguido? Ella ladeó su cabeza. —¿Qué cosa? —Venir aquí, comer y hablar. Tú y yo. Pareció pensarlo. —¿Solos? Abrí un poco la boca. Quería decir que sí, pero ella solo respondió. —Claro. Salgo a la cocina y la consigo lavando sus manos. —¿Vamos? —pregunto abriendo la puerta. Ella me sigue. Bajamos al estacionamiento del edificio por el ascensor. Ambos en silencio. Hace mucho que el silencio nos acompaña. Cuando estamos dentro del auto, me pregunta casi en un susurro —: ¿Crees que debería ir? Pero, entonces por poco me besa y salió corriendo. Me dejó ahí, sin explicaciones, semierecto y con mil preguntas. Todo el mundo quedó en silencio, como si se hubiera detenido. Alelí estaba sonrojada y mirándome con odio. Hasta que algo lo rompió. Sara gritó y le lanzó los conos de helado a Alelí, quien también gritó por la sorpresa de sentir el frío en su rostro. —Eras mi amiga —gritaba Sara. Cuando comenzó a golpearla, la agarré por el estómago intentando inmovilizarla. —Maldita mil veces —tenía mirada de loca.
