Bulgaria is chock full of former departmental health resorts, some of which have grown into full-fledged resorts. For example, Elenite. The name, by the way, is formed by the word alen (deer).
Elenite resort was built by the Finns in 1985 and until 2003 was used as a departmental sanatorium.
The resort is located just 10 kilometers south of Sunny Beach. There are buses to the resort.
Hotel 5 * Royal Castle
You can get from the resort to St. Vlas by bus in just 10 minutes. It cost 2.5 leva (1.2 euro), the price for the Sunny Beach was more expensive - 4 leva (2 euro). Also in the opposite direction. Perhaps now the prices have changed for a few stotinki.
The resort is built up with low-rise bungalows and high-rise palaces 😊
The climate here is the same as in Sveti Vlas - iodized air mixed with the aromas of pine forest and sea breeze. Very useful for the rehabilitation of pulmonary patients.
These bungalows are still of Finnish origin, and the new complexes at the very edge of the sea are modern.
I have traveled all the sea resorts in Bulgaria and I can say that Elenite is the greenest and most well-groomed one. Because it is small and closed.
The beach at the resort is not very wide, only 800 meters long and I honestly did not like it. The fact is that there are cobbles in the sand. Not small and not large stones, namely the average most unpleasant size. The same stones are two-meter strip at the entrance to the sea - it is very painful and inconvenient to go. I hurt my leg. Need special rubber sneakers. Umbrellas and sun beds on the beach cost 7 leva (€ 3.5).
In fairness it should be noted that the water in Elenite is the cleanest. The fact is that the resort is located in the gorge of the “Stara Planina” mountain, which in this place divides the Bulgarian coast into two parts: the North Coast and the South. The flow here diverges and it turns out that Elenite begins the South Coast and is the first resort. The Elenite wastewater treatment plant is built below, that is, all the resorts that are already following are “bathing” in the drains of Elenite and the previous ones.
In 2006, the Atlandida water park was opened here. We liked it more than Nessebar. We went there for free on the "pass of proprietors".
Outsiders are not allowed into the resort. Only if you come specifically to the water park.
The resort has one large grocery store and many shops, restaurants and cafes, children's clubs and an open stage, which regularly hosts entertainment. In general, it's not boring here.
Thank you for your time and attention.
