This stupa was built by an extravagant ruler who wanted it to be purposely left unfinished, just to show that he can, while using many prisoners of war and slaves to do so. 😐 He even built an observation tower off the Mingun Island to monitor the building process and to be in control.

A prophecy was established - if the construction is finished, the king will die.

Well at least this place holds the world record of being the highest pile of rocks πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ. An earthquake caused the big building to crack making it more of a tourist attraction rather than religious site. However, there is still a Buddha statue inside the building to serve its purpose as a place of worship!πŸ™

The building is very impressive and if you are ever around and exploring Mandalay, pay Mingun Pahtodawgyi a visit!πŸ‘ŒπŸ»
