My photo collection of bridges from around the world

Hi there my Steemit friends and followers!

Today, I am coming with another (hopefully enjoyable) special collection that I compiled from my photos taken at different places during my travels.

After showing you these interesting sculptures and some spooky architecture, I am going to take you on a little tour around bridges today :)

From ancient stone bridges found in European metropolises to shaky wooden footbridges winding through jungle in Central America, let me share these 10 photos of bridges with you and tell you something about them.

Ponte Sant Angelo, Rome, Italy

Spanning the Tibera River in the historic center of Rome, Ponte Sant Angelo was built as early as in 134 AD by the famous Roman emperor Hadrian. Measuring 135 m (443 ft) in length, the bridge offers some spectacular views of the city and the nearby Sant Angelo Castle.

Slovak National Uprising Bridge, Bratislava, Slovakia

Also known as the "UFO Bridge" or the "New Bridge", the Slovak National Uprising Bridge is a massive road bridge spanning the Danube River in the center of Bratislava, the capital city of Slovakia. With a total length of 431 m (1,413 ft), it is one of the longest cable-stayed bridges in Europe.

Trakai Castle Bridge, Trakai, Lithuania

This wooden bridge spans the Lake Galve, connecting the Trakai Castle with the mainland in southeastern Lithuania. With its origins dating back to the 14th century, the Trakai Castle is one of the most visited and photographed tourist attractions of this Baltic country.

Footbridge in Cahuita National Park, Costa Rica

This bridge probably doesn´t even have a name but I really enjoyed walking on it as I love these "paths into the unknown". The bridge winds through the dense jungle of the Cahuita National Park, a beautiful national park with stunning wildlife on the Caribbean coast of Costa Rica.

Viaduct in Armenime, Tenerife, Spain

This interesting viaduct can be found just outside of Armenime, a small village located in the Adeje Region of southwestern Tenerife, the largest of the seven Canary Islands. I took this shot while coming back from a hike around the surrounding picturesque hills.

Vysehrad Railway Bridge, Prague, Czech Republic

Built between 1871 and 1872, the Vysehrad Railway Bridge might not be as beautiful and popular as some other bridges in Prague but its distinctive steel construction made it an important architectural landmark of the city. The church in the background is the St. Peter´s and Paul´s Basilica.

Venice Pier, Los Angeles, California, USA

I know this is not technically a bridge but the Venice Pier looks like a bridge from certain angles and it makes a nice addition to this collection so I decided to include it. Located in the Venice Beach, a popular beachfront neighborhood of L.A., the pier is an iconic structure of the area.

Footbridge at Cenote Yax-Chen, Tulum, Mexico

Just like the footbridge in the Costa Rican jungle that I already showed you, this one also doesn´t have a name but it literally invites you to follow its meandering course, leading through the lush mangrove forests of the Yax-Chen Cenote in Tulum, a beautiful coastal town on the Mayan Riviera.

Brooklyn Bridge, New York City, New York, USA

Spanning the East River and connecting the NYC´s boroughs of Manhattan and Brooklyn, the Brooklyn Bridge is one of the most famous and photographed bridges in the world. Since its opening in 1883, it has been a popular tourist attraction and one of the iconic landmarks of the city.

Charles Bridge, Prague, Czech Republic

Easily the most famous bridge of my homeland, the Czech Republic, the Charles Bridge has been an architectural jewel of Prague for more than 600 years. Measuring 621 m (2,037 ft) in length, the bridge spans the Vltava River in the historic center of the city, connecting the Lesser Town and the Old Town.

I hope you enjoyed this little photo selection. If you have any interesting photos of bridges yourself, feel free to share them with us in the comment section below, I would love to see them :)
