There are over ten thousand Ramen shops in Tokyo and it is impossible to savour all of them. In our limited time in Tokyo, we could only visit some of the popular shops.
Darumanome Ramen in Akihabara is a real gem and we are glad to have discover them. Located right inside Akihabara Electric Town, this ramen shop is always crowded during peak hours but the queuing time is short because of its single seating concept with patrons finishing their meals quickly.
Signature Tonkotsu Ramen
A generous serving of Tonkotsu Ramen with 5 slices of Cha Shu costs only 700 yen. The pork broth is thick and very flavourful, coupled with a pinch of special chilli powder/paste, makes it really delicious.
Automated Ordering
What we like about Darumanome Ramen is the Automated Multi Languauge Ordering tablet for each diner. Menus are available in English and Chinese, convenient for tourists like us. We can also customized the ramen for additional toppings and softness of noodles, all within the tablet.
As with any other restaurants in Japan, Darumanome Ramen is fully equipped with different sauce and add-ons. Iced water is free too.
The shop is rather small and sits around 30 patrons. Each diner sits individually. If you come in a group and wish to sit together, a longer waiting time is required.
If you are visiting Tokyo, chances are you will drop by Akihabara. Remember to try the Tonkotsu ramen over at Darumanome Ramen!
