One of the foods from Japan which is currently very popular with people in Indonesia is Takoyaki.
This food is shaped like a small round pingpong ball, generally measuring around 3-5cm. Indonesians call it "Japanese roasted meatball". The name takoyaki itself comes from the word "tako" which means octopus, and "yaki" which means toasted.
This is because the method of making it is baked in a half circle mold and then flipped over until it becomes a full circle. Each takoyaki contains octopus pieces in it.
In addition to cuttings of squid can also be replaced with pieces of chicken, beef, cheese, or crab meat. This snack in Indonesia has begun to be found in many malls, roadside, Japanese restaurants, as well as in hotels and other places. Takoyaki comes from the Kansai region. In Japan itself, takoyaki is generally sold as a roadside snack to be enjoyed as a snack. One set contains 5,6,8 to 10 takoyaki which are served on take-away or plastic containers to take home.
But even though it originated from Japan, this food is quite popular in Indonesia. Many people make Tokayaki as a main dish in several restaurants in the country.
