Captured Between Clouds

Cloaked Mountain, Sunrise over Water

Waking up Sunday morning to brisk cold air pouring in through the window, it definitely did not feel like Spring. Weather turned from 30 deg C Saturday morning, down to a chilly 3 deg C Saturday evening on our visit to Kamberg Valley last month.

Sunlight reflecting off the dam woke me up bright and early, well 5am used to be normal, no longer to me that is now early by a couple of hours, tentatively I rolled out the bed grabbed my camera, then thought shoot you got to be outside for this. Clambering into layered clothing I shot out the door after grabbing a mug of coffee, lets watch nature unfold in the valley.

Armed with my coffee mug not too much had changed by 05h28 the sun was higher still a throbbing red glow above the waters edge, with a biting cold wind blowing through the valley.

Looking a lot brighter by 05h42 with clouds rolling in, which led me to take a short walk to see the mountain, another beautiful spectacle was unfolding on the right hand side of the valley.

The cloud must have slipped in the valley without me being aware, mountain had cloud lifting up from the ground and flying up over the top, lost in shades of white and grey.

Every second the theme in nature was being repainted a tapestry of colour above, we thought we were in for an exceptionally cold, wet day, with this photo taken at 06h00.

Here is a look at the dam photo taken at 06h06 with steam rising off of the water.

Mountain view two minutes later than the above photo, how wonderful to watch nature unfurl on this sublime beautiful Sunday.

The sun came up and we actually had a very pleasant day, sadly for the local community no rain showed up this time, it sure did look promising.
