The other day while browsing for an external hard drive at Target, something shiny caught my eye from a side aisle. I walked over to investigate, and to my excitement I found this!
I knew there was no way Target would actually sell REAL gold, I just thought the box looked cool. However when I flipped the box over there was a sticker on the bottom...
Real gold in 1 of 24 boxes? I didn't know how much gold would be in there or if there was any gold at all, but this was an opportunity I couldn't pass up for $4.
There were several other bars including silver ones, but this was the only one that had been unopened (otherwise I might have cleaned house and bought them all).
The box was very heavy. I rushed home to open it and to my incredible surprise... it contained a 1 oz. American Eagle gold coin! WOW!
Someone had to have made a manufacturing error or this simply wasn't real gold...
Well it is real gold, sadly it wasn't what was in the box... this is what it really looked like after the box was opened, but I was still filled with excitement!
I got the given tools ready and then started mining for gold.
I spotted something black in the center, maybe this held a finite amount of gold?
After extracting the object and cleaning it off a little, I found out that it was just a piece of obsidian and contained no gold.
Unfortunately there was no real gold inside, but the entire mining process was definitely worth it and I can keep the cool gold box.
I just may have to go back when more are in stock and wipe the entire section out!
Who knows, maybe they'll make a mistake and I really will end up with another gold piece like this...
Thanks for reading!
