Mahanakhon Skywalk Bangkok - Photoreport

My Post (2)

Yesterday on the late afternoon it finally happened and I had the chance to see Bangkok from above. My attempts mostly failed as I just could not find a good spot to shoot from above. Most of the tall buildings in Bangkok are either rooftop bars (Very pricey, No Tripods allowed etc.) or Just buildings without an open deck and shooting through windows obviously sucks ;).

The King Power MahaNakhon has a rooftop bar on top as well but it's not a must that you order drinks up there so you can just go up there and take as much time as you want to take pictures. I'd say the ideal time to go up is at around 5:30 PM as it's during the golden hour and the sun in Bangkok always goes down around 6:30 PM so you can see the sunset and also enjoy the night view above Bangkok.

The price to go up (no limitation in time) was 965 TBH which are roughly 30 USD but very worth it in my opinion.

To get a bit of a structure in this article I will split it in the following sections:

  • Location
  • Facts about the tower (Opening time etc.)
  • Photos from the sunset & nightview

MahaNakhon KingTower Bangkok

If you have ever been to Bangkok you will very likely recognize the building from it's pretty unique outside structure.

Location

If you are inside of Bangkok its very easy to get there by BTS - Just go on the dark green BTS line and exit at BTS SILOM LINE . The tower is located pretty much at the center of Bangkok.

Night View MahaNakhon King Tower

As the sun was gone, I took some more pictures. Unfortunately I didn't bring a Tripod for Long exposure shots but I found some ways to place my camera one the fence around the observation deck ;)

It was definitely worth for me to visit the King Tower. Even it was a bit pricey it was really worth it. Also, as you saw in the photos above it looked a bit crowded but it was possible to take photos from every position/side you liked too. So don't hesitate to bring a tripod to this spot if you are into photography.

Oh, yeah, one thing at the end - The sky-walk.. Well you are not allowed to bring your camera on the walking area.. So I skipped that one :P

Thanks for reading and enjoying this little virtual trip with me around the MahaNakhon King Tower in Bangkok :))

Best,
Chris
