I must say I haven't missed being on Steemit the past two months because....
- Cognitive dissonance - Too many people posting about how 'quality' leads to cash in the bank when it just ain't true- being in an auto upvote Whale clique is what you need to make cash - v. little to do with quality of posts.
- You can't update yer posts once they've been around for a week - hence you can't produce real quality as you evolve as a person.
- When I was here a few months ago, just being here induced anxiety.
- For all the talk about Steem going places - it hasn't - BTC and Dash have - not Steem.
- Basically I think Steemit is a kind of crypto capitalist-feudalism - you only get reward it you doff yer cap to the Whales, who have wealth... Not a perfect analogy, but it's not that far off.
- I've made a much better ROI in other areas of my life - work, blogging, crypto investing.
- There's just too many desperate people here - too many people posting shit 4 times a day for a few squid. I feel your pain, but I don't want to be you, and I don't want anyone else to be you either.
- There's too many average people getting shed loads of cash because of their buddies... I don't need to see this. In some ways it's worse than Zoella cashing in on teenage girls' anxieties.
- I tried the chatrooms - just not my kinda place, not my thang, not my environment, I didn't like it! I got plenty nuff face to face - better for me!
- My main problem with Steemit - I don't like the way the system plays into the hands of a small clique of early investors... It's just a bit shit for the rest of us.
Hopefully this post doesn't come across as bitter - I'm not bitter about Steemit - good luck to all of those who are making a wedge on here - I'm just saying - if, like me, you've established a reasonable income from elsewhere (in my case my blog), IMO Steemit isn't a great place to be to boost your self-esteem or generate income. I'd recommend instead setting up a self-hosted wordpress.org blog and just use this as a social media vessel in the same way as Twitter or Facebook!
