You have to be careful what you kick off on Steem as it can take over your life! The #TenKMinnows projects started in a comment discussion with @pennsif about why the number of minnows was not increasing and it has just gone crazy already.
Firstly, @pennsif has created a 10k Minnows Project forum on his State of Steem Discord. Please drop in there to discuss the project, but I cannot promise to be there all day.
Also, @slobberchops is giving away some @steembasicincome shares to proto-minnows. These effectively give you votes for life. There are some conditions, so check carefully. One of them is that you cannot nominate yourself, so get a friend to do it.
Then, of course, there is the MSP Waves radio show that @pennsif and I are doing on Thursday at 8pm UTC/GMT. We should have some other top Steemians joining us to discuss it. You can listen in on their site or via Discord where you can chat with other listeners.
This project needs a logo! Submissions are welcome and there may be some rewards on offer, but I would obviously like them to got to a smaller account to boost them. Here's your chance. The one below is obviously rubbish, but I am no artist.
I have been noting down some ideas in preparation for the radio show, but I will share some here. One of them was #MinnowMakerMonday. I'm thinking this could be a day where we show extra support for the small fry (it's a term of affection) by giving them the benefit of our votes, comments and re-Steems. With that in mind, here are some people I have met today via this series of posts:
- @janenightshade posts about TV and movies with a bias towards horror. She has been here a year, but may still need some help on getting the most from Steem. She has 150 SP, but I have suggested she power up the liquid Steem she has to boost her vote and take a step closer to minnow-hood.
- @mistakili has been here about as long. He is getting close with 428 SP and is making good use of @esteemapp, @steemmonsters, @drugwars and @share2steem to gain extra votes. He's also using @minnowbooster in a small way. I've made my thoughts on 'bid bots' clear, but I am interested in what this one offers the community.
- @lordvdr (nor to be confused with @lordvader) is making good use of @actifit. It's a good excuse for a daily post that can get you a vote from that project. He's into role-playing games, which may interest @hockney. I'm all about getting like-minded people together. He only has 95 SP after a year, so please check out what he is doing.
I have mentioned already that I do not really want to run this project. I am just putting out suggestions and people are welcome to run with it using these tags or their own. Ideally is should be lower-powered users who can point we cetacea in the direction of those who are worthy of our votes. It is all about building a more viable Steem community of engaged users.
