The Road to Steemfest 3 Quest - Comedy Open Mic Round 26 (The Double Whammy)

The Quest to Steemfest 3!

Right... I know this may have been done before but I just had to do it as I'm a massive LOTR fan. If you don't know what that acronym means, you've missed a vital part of every techno-geeks personal development and you should be ashamed... seriously 😉

A few months ago, when I was considering the possibility of travelling to steemfest 3 it felt like an uphill struggle, possibly up some type of mountain... of a decidedly fiery nature. Every road, path, byway, thoroughfare, trail, track, route - all seemed to be leading me to one conclusion, that I wouldn't be able to make it! It felt a lot like the immortal words of Bilbo when he leaves the Shire:

The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

Would I make it? How could I afford to make it? Would I have to pawn a magic ring? 😉 Often when looking at my finances I felt a little like Gimli, teetering on the edge of disaster. Or possibly like the journey was just too difficult and I would run out of steem....

But then.. just as things were starting to look a little grim, a beacon in the form of the amazing @steemfestdreams competition cast light into dark places and the big hairy spider of indecision was driven back into the deep places of the earth.

Now I'm not completely deluded, although the amount I'm extending this LOTR metaphor might make you think otherwise. I know there is well over 20 entrants to the competition, but it has reignited my hope to the point where I am certain I shall make it somehow, some way, even if it's on my hands and knees.

In all seriousness though, I worked with @evecab in the @promo-mentors community for quite a while and she is an amazing and tallented blogger/vlogger who I'd love to hang out with in person.

Is like Gandalf with a shotgun 😅 blasting off buckshot of joy with his delegation vote. But to get real about this, Eric is one of the most down to earth helpful people I have met on steemit. The first time I messaged him to ask if he could help promote @comedyopenmic's spanish contest, he didn't know me from Jack. This didn't stop him from helping me to promote the contest and he has since helped me out loads of times with projects and as a mentor in the @sndbox summercamp. Thanks Eric be good to shake your hand if I make it.

Looks nothing like Saruman, sounds nothing like Saruman and since he shaved his head has completely different hair from Saruman but he is a fckn wizard with the video editing 😉 We have been friends pretty much since we both started on steemit and although we have met once already it would be awesome to hangout with him and the @dtubedaily crew at steemfest 3. Hope to see you there brother.

I'm not sure which one of these guys is Elrond... but together they are the creative drive and founders of @sndbox. If any entity on steemit is anything like the council of the wise, it would be them. I am very lucky to be part of this falls' sndbox cohort 2. If I make it to steemfest 3, it would be amazing to catch up with them, hear their ideas for sndbox and the future of the creativecrypto magazine.

Curie curators are completely like an army of ghostly warriors emerging from a boat while distributing votes to worthy causes. We operate in the shadows... but always for good... content 😜 @LLFarms, @for91days & @abh12345 are all curators I think are planning to go to steemfest 3. It would be great to meet up to discuss AR's, CS's and the key to power curating... joking, no talking shop. Well maybe a little discussion about the dangers of drinking while curating and the most nonsensical posts we've ever read.

There are a tone more people I would love to meet up with, hang out and talk all things steemit... but I am quickly running out of LOTR analogies! Even the biggest fan has their limits.
