As you all know, time passes and it brings us ever-closer to the third edition of Steemfest. And over the past few weeks, I've gotten in the habit of doing these Steemfest/Get-to-know-each-other posts that @anomadsoul organizes. I always find they're awesome fun to write and read and they really help us know other Steemians.
This is why I am writing this one, although the recent announcement of ticket prices has thrown me off balance. The ticket prices for Steemfest3 are not at all the ones I expected. Frankly, they're a lot more expensive than I expected them to be, which has given me considerable doubts that I will be attending the event, after all. The thing is my only source of income is Steemit and I can't say I'm filthy rich here, so there's a good chance I won't be going to Steemfest after all.
But I'm trying to stay hopeful. I've entered a couple of contests, in hopes that I'm lucky enough to win a ticket (since I'd love to go). So, fingers crossed!
Anyway, until I know anything for certain, I figured I would keep writing these posts. So, here goes. This week's proposed theme was '3 fun facts about me'.
1. I'm having trouble writing under my own name
When I joined Steemit, I was relieved to find you could set up any name you wanted. I don't know why, but the idea of writing under my own given name was horrifying to me...it still is kinda weird. I'm thinking about entering a writing contest under my own name, as opposed to my pen name Honey Due.
And it freaks me out. I'm like 'but she doesn't write'. I have a feeling Steemit has given me a multiple personality and honestly, I really want to know if my other self (my “real” self as it were) has the same writing abilites as I do.
Because if she doesn't, well, she'd better make herself useful in some other way, you know? Otherwise, I'm kicking her out! Or charging rent...
2. I'm a secret photographer
I'm not sure but I think it was seeing @tarazkp's photos on here that turned me on to photography. As things stand now, I'm not able to buy a “real” camera although I hope to get one someday, and so I take photos on my phone (luckily, it's blessed with an excellent camera) of everything. It's actually more convenient, I think, because I'm always pulling my phone out and snapping a couple of pics.
I even take pictures in secret, like yesterday I went out to meet with a cousin I hadn't seen in a really long time and when she went to the toilet, I quickly took out my phone and snapped a picture of an armchair that was there...you know, the weirdest things. I often take pictures in secret, when I'm out with friends, 'cause then they'd think I had an issue if they saw me.
Speaking of friends, I'm awful to walk with because I love taking nature pics (well, I love taking any pics) and I will constantly trail off or wander away to snap a few shots.
They'll often find themselves talking to nobody in particular, because I'm several steps back, probably squatting in some bushes trying to capture the next Warhol.
3. I'm a coffee addict.
Or should I say 'Hi, my name is Honey and I'm addicted to caffeine'?
But yeah, I've been drinking coffee for a long time now and at some point, I think it just lost effect on me. Friends often laugh at me because I drink it like water in the sense that it does nothing to me, most times.
For me, it's just the joy of having a good cup of coffee. I think I get it from my mom. One of the first things on my mind like ever is how am I going to find coffee? She's the same.
And it kinda transforms your world. Like I think about what I'll do and having a cup of coffee, for me, is something to look forward to, a lovely treat. So in case, I do make it to Steemfest3 (fingers crossed), don't act surprised when you see me gulping down an enormous cup of coffee!
And that's it for me, I think. I'm sure there's a lot more stuff I just can't think about right now. You know how it is, I mean after all, you're you to yourself. You know you, so you don't think of them as 'fun facts', just the usual. But who knows what else you might find out about me along the way?
Thank you for reading,
