The other day I was online on Twitter and saw announcement of Game of Thrones marketing their season finale, season 8. They dropped 6 iron thrones in 6 different countries. So much like what The Rolling Stones did for their pop-up museum in Nashville, last year, they dropped giant Rolling Stones tongues all over the city.
As am a GoT freak, a mother of dragon eggs (lol, if you are a follower, you know this, I posted a tutorial how to make dragon eggs awhile back), I got excited but at the same time, BUMMED. The countries mentioned on Twitter did not have Canada on the list.
The other night, before bed though, I bumped to a news saying there is one in Canada, say whaaaa...??!!!!!
And to my joyful heart, it's placed on my own backyard too! Here in British Columbia!!! What are the chances????? Are you kidding me??? I thought. Could not sleep that night. Wanted to wake up my husband hahaha I shrieked.
Come morning time, I messaged him asking, can we go, can we go, can we go (he was already at work). Please, pretty please, please, please, can we go. I mean, when and where else, right? Iron throne of Game of Thrones on our backyard!
Funny is. A couple of months back due to my GoT withdrawal, I asked him to make me one iron throne, but since he is busy with work, I turned to making dragon eggs in the end hahahha
I went online, gave announcement on #teamcanada on Discord, only @crimsonclad was online. After talking to her, I got more excited, wanting to go and boom, yep, off road tripping we went yesterday :P
So @bluemist, @crimsonclad, I present you the TRUE King in The North, with his dragon eggs :D
This town is not so close to where we live. Required long drive and boy the drive was long indeed. Their road was not what we expected. It was not always smooth driving. Crazy. I cannot imagine how those people would travel out of their town in thick winter, icy road. Can be so dangerous indeed. But they have giant turbines, that remind us Austria. My boys kept saying we were in the giant's forest, ssshhhhh, don't make so much sound. At least they were not fussy in the car, but for sure I packed tons of snacks, water, and their gadgets.
The direction that CBC.ca (a news site) mentioned was not exactly correct as well by the way. We ended up to an area that was no accessible with small cars but trucks. We made a stop, trying to Google and 3 trucks came out of the road that was mentioned by the news site. The stopped by us, asking whether we were looking for the iron throne and yep, those trucks were lost, they said nope, don't go further, nothing there. So we all continue driving and for sure, we spotted lined, and lined, and lined of parked cars. We hit the spot at last. But again, lucky we did not go further to the road that was mentioned on the news site, with our small car, we could not have made it at all! Crazy direction I tell ya!
And the line to reach the iron throne was long as well hahahha Guess people had the same thoughts as we did. Not to come on weekend because it would be crazy long, and boom, even it was only Wednesday, took us awhile standing on the line until it was our turn to take a shot or two on the throne.
Well, that was not totally true. We took TONS of pics obviously. Just don't really want to flood the blockchain with our silly poses lol
Nobody brought props like we did, DRAGON EGGS :P One family brought a small sword, a group of people brought a big sword, but it was from Lord of The Rings :D Anyways, just want to brag that our dragon eggs were a hit ;-) I regretted not to bring a wine glass too though. Would have a Daenerys Targaryen pose with my dragon eggs AND Cersei Lannister pose with a wine glass hahahhaa Would have been perfect, but with such a rush impromptu road trip, could not remember shit. Just too excited.
If you are in BC Canada and heading to the Throne of Ice, yeah bring a prop for your shot! A glass of wine at least!
