Chios is proud of the Kambos region. It is a suburb outside its capital Chora, and it has small mansions and gardens with citrus fruit trees, vineyards, mulberry trees to produce silk and many others. Those trees form small, private paradises for these houses.
Most of the houses were built of stone from the village Thimiana and were influenced by Genoese architecture. The orchards were watered by each house’s well.
Nowadays, apart from various rich people who owe these houses, some have turned to small boutique hotels, whereas in one house’s premises there is a small manufacture of traditional sweets and beverages named Citrus:
