In Albuquerque, Weck's is synonymous with breakfast. Their tagline is "A full belly tradition since '91," and it underlies a definite truth about this chain of local restaurants. Their plates are huge and you are sure to leave with a full belly!
And because their food is so delicious, you'll want to make it a breakfast tradition. Twenty eight years ago, there was only one Weck's, and because they have consistently delivered great food over those years, they have now grown to 14 locations spread throughout New Mexico.
They are famous for their Papas Plate; one bite and you won't wonder why. Papas feature a heaping stack of perfectly cooked hashbrowns, topped with cheese, eggs, green or red chile (naturally), and your choice of ingredients like sauteed mushrooms, bacon, tomatoes, etc. They are the almighty hangover cure around here, but if you aren't in the mood, or capable, of eating a large plate of papas, they thankfully serve them in a smaller bowl size, still shareable between two adults.
They are also known for their perfectly fluffy, light waffles and pancakes. Typically topped with whipped cream and strawberries.
Although the menu isn't all that creative for breakfast food, everything that comes of the Weck's kitchen is delicious. The interior of each location is cozy, clean, and styled with retro paraphenilla that will keep you entertained while you await your steaming bowl of Papas or a sticky cinnamon roll.
