A while ago, I visited a succulent grower who gave me a parcel of plants that included some wild-collected medicinal herbs that he had bought at a local market. I had some trepidation about growing them as wild plants often don't transplant well. They were slow to get going but to my surprise, most of the plants made it. It took a while but the summer rain seems to have worked its magic on the bulbs.

Scilla natalensis is disappearing from the wild due to overharvesting. They make blue flowers in spring.

Ledebouria are still common although also reducing in numbers
Unfortunately, the Euphorbia clavaroides and the Dioscorea didn't grow although that was not surprising
The grower friend also gave me some other indigenous Euphorbia offsets and those have rooted and grown.

E. ferox and E. pulvinata

There were 2 Cyphostemma juttae stems as well and both rooted and grew. I kept one and gave one to Mr. Fuschia. When some people give gifts, it's always wise to immediately give something in return. That way they won't feel like you owe them something...
