Today I read an extensive post of someone who eats only fruit and vegetables and who marched against companies that modify crops etc and I have nothing much against this. But the same person shows >30 pictures of him flying accross the whole world having fun in countries around the globe.
A large plane consumes 8 ton (8000 kilo) kerosine per hour although some say less, others even more.
The same behaviour I see around me here where people want to punish a steel company with high taxes although they themselves all buy goods that contain steel or steel elements. Their computer, handheld, pans, pen, door handles and cars ofcourse. Everything they make we buy!
So:
The same applies for me ofcourse. Therefore I think of my contribution to a more sustainable world. Wel it is nill to zero as I probably consume more than 100 persons consume in a less developed country. The solution if any is to go back to a life like we had in the past without planes, with smaller local economies and less transport. Politicians - left or right - that propose this would receive zero votes I am afraid.
Or read this article about that same question raised to Norwegians:

Oh and for those who think electric airplanes are to be invented; currently batteries are three times heavier than the same volume of fuel and deliver three times less energy. So the weight of the plane would be 2 or 3 times the current weight hence require more batteries etc etc etc
