Today the wife and I went to a farm that today was open to the public for "Little Lambs Day". The local newspaper describes which farmers take part and where to find them.
As the weather was perfect my wife and I met halfway the bicycle path to the farm. She came back from her saturday horse ride and I came from home. I took some coffee and sandwiches with me and after eating those we headed to the farm.

The farmer told us the first seven births were singles which is not good. However also a triplet was born. Further more they lost one mother during or short after givin birth. The farm is a (typical) dairy farm with over 100 milkcows, 40-50 young cows (pinken 1-2 yr olds) no milk robot, and some twenty sheep.

one day old triplet

They also had calves/( Dutch : 1 kalf or 2 kalveren)

The farmer wife was baking pancakes of the first mother milk called Biest and these tasted great. After that it was back home again. On days like this I enjoy not living in a city but in between the agricultural life.
Enjoy the weekend
