I would be a fool not to taste or even touch this one - Tiramisu!
Yesterday, I posted about the Chocolate truffle tart which actually gave me a sugar rush by the way. It was really sweet, way sweeter than this one, TWG's version of tiramisu.
Luckily, they made it really subtle on all levels, lesser sugar & lesser coffee. I didn't taste any hint of rhum or alcohol to it though, totally different from the traditional ones.
Even though this one looks really fancy for a tiramisu, I think it deviates too much that it made me feel that it's a new type of dessert. Probably a modernized version of it.
TWG is established here in Singapore but they already managed to open up their branches internationally, in major cities of the world.
Their specialty is tea. They also serve some sandwiches and desert to pair with a variety of classic and flavoured tea.
I always thought that there are only few types of tea: black, earl grey, oolong, green, and red tea. When one of the crew handed me the menu, it was surprising to see few hundred types listed by countries of origin: India, Ceylon, China, Nepal...and so on. A lot of it are the kinds of tea that I haven't heard of and so I picked from the classic ones - Earl Grey Pu-Erh, which didn't disappointed me.
The tea cost me about $8 (S$11 per pot) while the desert (Tiramisu) is also $8 (S$11) which made me realize that it is really their specialty, based on how it's priced. And considering that it's the cheapest type of tea, premier tea cost about $28 (S$38), I maybe sipping from a pot of gold thinking about its cost.
It's a good thing that I'm not an avid tea drinker.
Cheers!
