Today is 26th March, the Independence Day of Bangladesh. In 1971, on March 25 night, there was a dreadful attack by the Pakistani army to the common people of Bangladesh. Thousands of people died on that night.
Earlier 1971, both Bangladesh and Pakistan were one country. At that time current Bangladesh was called east Pakistan and Pakistan was called west Pakistan.
When east Pakistani(Bangladesh) people understood that they were deprived from all facilities and suppressed by the west Pakistan, they demanded the freedom lead by the great leader Sheikh Mujibor Rahman.
The west Pakistani army did not agree with this. As a result they fired on armless, innocent common people without any notice. They did the dreadful genocide of the history.
After a nine month long war, Bangladesh got their independence in December 16, 1971.
On this day people show respect to the martyrs. There is National Martyrs’ Memorial in Savar. People gather there early in the morning and show respect to them.
Sharing some pictures of National Martyrs’ Memorial. Hope you will enjoy.

Google is also showing respect by changing their cover page on the occasion of this day.
