The botanical garden is one of the popular places in the city of Campeche to spend time in leisure surrounded by green landscape and plants. The name means “water that springs from Earth” in Mayan and is known for its amazing sub-tropical vegetation. The botanical garden has around 200 plant species out of which some of the rare and endemic. One of the best parts of the botanical garden is the Ceibas which were once considered to be the sacred tree of the Mayans. The botanical garden is pretty interesting for anyone looking to know more about plants and different species.

A quaint garden is a perfect place for visiting with family, and within the garden, there is a small mini fish pond. It is a breath of fresh air in the middle of the city and has a lot of shaded areas to sit, relax and perhaps enjoy a picnic. The botanical garden has a number of tropical plants with a lot of exotic plants and flowers from a wide range of species. The harmony of peace and community within the garden makes it a very peaceful place to spend the evening in leisure and in absolute peace.

The garden is a nice oasis in the middle of the city and suitable for reading or doing any other creative work. There is a wide range of palm trees, and also there is a small fountain in the middle of the garden. There is even information kiosk inside the garden that gives information about the history of Campeche. The place is small but well preserved and peaceful. The garden has small ropes swings for kids and even for adults where one can listen to the tune of the breeze and air. With a lot of trees and plants around it is the perfect place to sit and enjoy and escape the summer heat.

It is adjacent to the walls of the old castle, and the chirping of the birds further makes the place even better. There are many endemic species present in the garden along with fish pond and fountains that makes the place worthwhile. The garden walls are a replica of the fort walls and sitting inside the garden gives the feeling of being surrounded by an old city. The garden is open every day for the visitors from 8 am to 9 pm, and the entry fee inside is only 15 pesos.
