Ernakulam

After my ferry ride from Fort Kochi to Ernakulam, it was time to visit the exhibitions in Durbar Hall which is majorly used as an art gallery. The Durbar Hall and it's grounds, built in the 1850s, are right at the center of the city.

The artist used jute ropes in her work below to represent the human reproductive organs and anatomy. The knots are quite intricate with pleasing color combinations. The rest of the art pieces were created on zinc plates which I had a really difficult time identifying, The exhibition was divided in 2 storeys, the lower one containing the jute pieces.

The upper level presented artworks based on current political and social issues as well as ones from history. It was nearly impossible to capture all of them so I focused more on understanding them and shared a few of them here. A lot of them were thought provoking and I wasn't even aware of some of them!

After the exhibition was over I took a walk in some other venues and the beach in the evening. I found a great little place for some Kerali cuisine called Oceanos. At some levels I would say that it was better than Fusion Bay, about which I shared in my post yesterday :) The vegetable stew is to DIE for in this place and is a must go for both vegetarians and non-vegetarians. I went here for 2 nights straight bbefore leaving for Allepey. I wrapped up the night with some delicious dessert at some other place and headed back to my place.
