Magical Shadow Drawing

ntopaz-image-0ntopaz-image-1ntopaz-image-2ntopaz-image-3ntopaz-image-4ntopaz-image-5ntopaz-image-6ntopaz-image-7So Today I will share a little special kind of ink drawing with you!

I previously made this water color painting of mushrooms, and now I decided to try to paint with ink on the back of that to see what happens!
I got the idea from a book I saw at the library, but I had no idea if it would work on a watercolor painting!

So these black and white animals or shadow figures are drawn on the backside of a watercolor drawing and when you turn it to face the mushroom side, at first you cannot see anything, but when you light through the paper with a flashlight or turn it towards the window, the little shadow figures begin to appear and you can go on a discovery to see what hides behind the leaves!

To fully see the effect, watch my dTube video where you can see how you can find all the hidden creatures with a flashlight!

I think this is a really fun idea for kids to explore art.

I must say it worked pretty well, but the different layers and strong lines of the watercolor painting made it a bit difficult to see some of the animals. I think it would work better with a less contrasted picture.

I made the whole background piece with black chinese ink and rotring rapidograph ink pen.

Thank you for stopping by! <3
