I was teaching my Herbal First Aid Course (Emergency Holistic Medicine) the other day, when it occurred to me that it be great if more people knew some of these basic tools on the regular! So I decided to share a snip-it from that class that I feel is deeply important when working with others, in ANY circumstance! Enjoy!!
Practical Rules for Working with Herbal First Aid
- Use disposable gloves, when encountering anything warm, wet and not yours.
Take care of yourself – take rest and immune strengthening herbs, use your Kit for YOURSELF too! (It's all too easy to get caught up on caring for others, SELFCARE is a deeep must!)
Be aware of possible legal implications…
Know your limits (Know when there is a need to utilize modern medicine)
Improvise as needed – Be inventive, AND, know your limits.
Be instructive, teach prevention. Help them help themselves. Education is key.
(Empowering others is different then Treating others - this helps alot with the legality issue.)Organize your First Aid Kit - saves a lot of time and frustration!
