I always loved this as a kid. It’s an excellent reminder how sometimes a very small thing can turn into a big thing. It is also a lesson in preparation and a general awareness of things that can go wrong.

Had the rider simply packed an extra nail he might have saved the kingdom. His lack of foresite for systemic risk was extremely costly as he could not fix his horseshoe.
