I want to share with you some #astrophotography shots that I took with my existing camera equipment and edited with the basic photo editor that comes bundled with Windows 10.
This is to show you that you too can get some nice results without spending a fortune on gear or software.
These are some of the first photos that I have taken and I am pretty happy with the results from such simple equipment. It will get better with more practice as I continue to learn more about the capabilities of my camera and the best settings for nice sharp images.
All images where taken using a remote control button attached to the camera to avoid movement and the settings ranged from 5 seconds to 30 seconds. eg: 5, 10, 15, 20, 25 and 30 seconds.
This is a nice clear photograph of Ursa Major. Some people call it the Big Dipper or the Plough.
I took this image into the basic photo editor on Windows 10 and increased the light slider and then so many 1,000's of stars came into view that Ursa major almost disappears.
This image below was taken at around 3 a.m. and has very little detail.
Again after a quick edit in the photos editor we get many more stars in the same cropped image below.
This image was slightly out of focus as I changed lenses from a 30 mm to a 20 mm and forgot to refocus the camera. Again just pushed up the light slider in the photo editor. You can see how much light the camera picks up over the long exposure time as the houses in the image below, looks almost like it is daytime.
This image below was captured with the camera set to 30 seconds and opened with the remote button to avoid camera shake. These star trails give you a sense of the movement of the stars.
I hope you enjoyed this post as much as I did in making it. Astrophotography is a lot of fun and you can do a lot with the most basic equipment, so it doesn't have to be expensive at all. Just practice and hone your skills.
This is one of my favorite photographs so far as it's a little bit mysterious and intriguing. What could it be? A UFO? :)
