We went to Shimizu Park in the afternoon of November 10th, 2019. The weather was fine and was not too cold. According to their official site, Shimizu Park is an enormous park with a land area of 280,000 square meters. The park facilitate field athletics, a campsite, a barbecue site, a pony farm, Aquaventure (a huge cubic maze), and Flower Fantasia(a flower garden). The size of field athletics in the park is the largest in Japan with a total of one hundred playground equipment of the watercourse, the adventure course, and the challenge course.
Next to Shimizu Park is Noda Municipal Comprehensive Park that facilitates a pool, a tennis court, a baseball field, a gymnasium, a bouldering area, and an athletics stadium.
Shimizu Park is one of the best places in Japan which is chosen as one of '100 best sakura viewing points in Japan'. It is also known as a prominent azalea viewing spot in Kanto region.
Besides, you can enjoy 500 kinds of flowers such as plum, peony, and wisteria for all four seasons, and especially in autumn you can go to see the beautiful foliage.
For this visit, we only cover the campsite/bbq area, fish trout area, and athletic field.
We entered the park from here
This small stream beside the sidewalk, can you guess how many goose are in this picture? Tell me in the comment!
These kids enjoying their aquaventure
Grab a stick along the way and have fun with Noa!
You can fish the trout here just pay 200yen to rent the fishing pole
then ask them grill them for you, about 100yen for the service and 400yen for every fish you caught for grill
The bbq/campsite area
Finally at the entrance of athletic field, after lost a bit to the cottage/campsite area
You can have this leaflet for checking the boxes on activities/challenge that you have accomplished
.
Noa got to play some of the challenges that safe for her age
but most of the time she just picked up stick or leaf or hugging the tree like this
we took another route to go back to parking lot and pass through this creepy looking garden of trees without leaf
I almost thought this garden was a graveyard when I saw this engrave stick until I read it fully clearly..
Goingback before sunset
My personal review for Shimizu Park is, this is the place you want to spend with your family and kids on the weekend or during the school holiday to connect back to nature with lots of fun playground. The campsite and bbq place is well adequate. You can rent a cottage too just in case you want to spend the night in nature, and fully experience the park facilities. Most of the activities in the park are for school-age children, but there are some that smaller kids can safely play with the help of parents. Or they can just grab the ground and leaf and hug the tree like my 2.7 years old Noa did. We would definitely come back here again, might be staying overnight or just come early in the morning to enjoy all the park has to offer.
