Cutter had been resting now for a while, he couldn't be sure for how long though. It was strange sometimes he would wake up fresh, and other times he would wake up groggy. But, each time he was sure that he had only been micro napping.

He woke up this time and the room's main light wasn't on, the only light throughout the med-bay was ambient dull lighting. There was no noise other than the general sounds of the machines in the room.

"I'm sorry." He heard the voice of a woman which startled him. He looked to his left and saw a figure sitting in the chair looking at him. Her red hair was the first thing he noticed. Sentera.

Memories flooded back to him when he looked at her face, she gave him the same look now, as she did when he was on the wrong side of a blaster.

"What? Come to finish the job?" Cutter asked quietly, his throat felt dry as he spoke.

"It wasn't my fault. You have to forgive me for that." She pleaded. Cutter shook his head slightly, in impatience. "Who's fault was it then? I wasn't in the right state to be dealing with that. You should see my side, it would make you get sick."

She rested her head in her hands, covering her face with them as she sat still.

"It was the people I was with who did that. Not me. I didn't want to live that kind of life, but, I had no choice." She had been speaking through her hands, but, looked up at him. Her blue eyes were alive with the movement of tears.

"The stuff you said, while we were walking back to the house. It was like nothing I had ever heard. My whole life. But, you, someone I had only spoken to for a few minutes was the one to say it." As Sentera spoke her voice jumped and cracked while trying to hold back her tears.

What did I say Cutter wondered to himself, he couldn't remember a thing. "Don't cry." Cutter said softly while he tried to remember back.

"It meant a lot to me. It made me rethink my life and try and do something better with it." She said wiping away a tear. "Not that I have a choice anyway. Your friend killed the others, so it's not like I can go back to living that way."

"I'm sorry about that," Cutter said. "I didn't realise."

"Don't be sorry. They were animals. Maybe I needed the wake-up call. Besides, after what they did to you I'm surprised you aren't happy about them being dead."

Sentera stood up slowly and approached Cutter, she leaned over. For some reason, as she did he flinched. Until she planted a kiss on his cheek. His blood started to flow when her soft lips made contact with him, she stepped back. But, he felt like he wanted that moment to last forever. He knew what to do.

"Why not join us? The captain is always looking for new crew members. Like you said. You want a different kind of life." Cutter sat up as he spoke. Watched as a wave of excitement washed across her face.

"What!" She shouted. "Really? You would ask him if I could join you?"

"Yeah. Of course." I would do anything for you. Cutter thought. I will have to talk to the captain first though.

Sentera ran to him and hugged him as he finished talking, she must not have realised that she had brushed off his wound. A shooting pain ran through him, which hurt real good. But, he didn't mind. She must have seen his expression, he could almost hear her apologizing, but, couldn't concentrate on anything at that moment.

It was after a few minutes that the pain had subsided. Rough, he thought to himself. As he went back to his feeling of only a dull aching pain.

The door to the med-bay opened and Cutter's blood ran cold. "Cutter. Doc needs the room back and asked me to come and carry you to your room if needs be." Kart said as he stepped into the room, then he stopped to look at Sentera. His face was expressionless, but after a moment it creased.

Sentera stepped back to the bed slowly as she looked at him. The air was still for a moment, but, in a blind rage, Kart charged at her and lifted her off the ground by the scruff of her jacket. "What did I tell you!" Kart shouted. To which, Sentera screamed. "I'm sorry. I came to make sure he was okay."

"Kart! Put her down!" Cutter strained his throat to shout. Kart didn't take his eyes off Sentera though. "I don't tolerate intruders!" Kart growled. As he shook her.

Cutter twisted himself in the bed, diving out of it wrong, to land face down on the ground. The pain was enough to nearly make him pass out, he felt sick to his stomach as he lay on the cold steel floor. Then out of his peripheral vision, he saw Sentera being lowed to the floor and he saw Kart leaning down. He scooped Cutter up, giving him the feeling of weightlessness. He was reminded of a time when he was a child, shortly after he joined the ship. Kart would often carry him to his quarters and put him to bed. Strange. That thought hadn't crossed his mind in a long time.

"Kart. Listen to me." Cutter managed to say. But, just barely. Kart's face was full of grief as he gently lowered Cutter onto his bed.

"Kart. She apologized. I forgave her." He said. Kart shook his head as he glanced over at her. "Cutter. I'm immune to fluttering eyelashes." "Not mine you're not you dumb brute. It's my choice to forgive someone or hold a grudge. Look at me, I'm in bits. If I can forgive her, so can you."

"You've had your chat now. So, I'll escort her off-board." Kart offered. "No. That's the thing. I've told her she can join us." "What! No Cutter. I'm not having some lying skank aboard the ship, she almost killed you!" Kart roared. "That wasn't me." Sentera complained. "Shut it!" Kart told her with a point of the finger.

"You're going to back me on it Kart. Hackett doesn't find out about her involvement in what happened." Cutter knew if he did there would be no way of her staying. "Really?" Kart glared back at Cutter. "Or else I'll tell Hackett about how you forced me to drink the Rotchi Blaster." "I didn't force you, but you can tell him that, I don't care." Cutter was worried at this point, it was the only leverage Cutter knew he had over Kart.

"Please Kart, I took the wrap for you. I didn't have to do that." Cutter begged. Kart shook his head while looking back at him and glanced back and forth slowly between him and Sentera.

"You're thinking with that Cutter!" Kart shouted as he pointed at Cutter's crotch. "It's a bad idea. But, I'll keep my mouth shut. Don't think for two seconds that I'll be taking my eyes off you." Kart said while staring at Sentera.

That was a relief Cutter thought to himself. The only thing standing in the way of her joining was Hackett. He was usually easygoing, especially when it came to people joining.
