My Actifit Report Card: April 5 2022 - - We Are Alive IAAC #7 - Hard long road to summer fitness

A dear greeting to all lovers of physical activities that populate the mythical community of Actifit.

A spectacular blue sky welcomes my awakening this morning. After a week of rain the sun dominates the scene over our heads. This morning I was expecting a business call but it didn't come. But an active person like me doesn't have time to get lost in disappointment. Time for lunch and I got going.

Even more than yesterday, the mountain that draws the characteristic panorama of Naples seems closer.

Also because I decided to climb to the third peak of the panorama. Yes, because in addition to Monte Somma and the cone of Vesuvius, the complex of the Somma caldera has a third hill, the San Salvatore hill, on which stands the old seat of the Vesuvian observatory, the oldest in the world built in the Bourbon period after the several eruptions that followed the catastrophic one of 1631.

Going up I came to admire one of the most recent lava flows of the volcano up close.

After its cooling, the lava created small caves.

After the paved road I found this cave filled with gifts and sacred statues brought by believers to ingratiate themselves the saints to protect them from future eruptions. There are also many photos of those who lived in the area.

I tried to venture further but only got halfway there. I am not yet ready for the total climb up to the observatory forecourt.

But I managed to take this photo of a tree that shows a burning urge to fight gravity. He has the courage to live in almost impossible conditions and on the verge of understanding. A real victory against the adversities of natural life. It is #alive

Someone will say but how you can live at the foot of one of the most dangerous volcanoes in the world. Unfortunately it must be said that this is not the greatest threat to our city. In this photo you can see in the background the Posillipo hill which is also of volcanic origin and represents the edge of a very old mouth of one of the many volcanic buildings of the Caldera dei Campi Flegrei. A currently active Caldera with the ground uplifting, closely monitored, as there is intense volcanic activity that hides a power second only to the Yellowstone Caldera. But this will be the topic for another report in the future.

I just have to remind you that today more than yesterday I am #alive for the 7th stage of my personal #IAmAliveChallenge.
