Greetings! Wishing you integral wellness, today I have encouraged myself to participate in the vegan shopping challenge, attending to the suggestion given to me by my dear sister @carisma77 and thanking @sirenahippie for the opportunity.
I live in a popular area of the city of Caracas, around here the streets are full of street vendors offering a variety of products, including fruits and vegetables brought from various corners of the country.
Going out to buy pineapple is quite easy for me, at least when it is in season, almost at every step there is a stand of vendors offering it. The disadvantage is that many sell them even when they have been picked before they have reached full ripeness, so to find a good pineapple around here I must make a not very complicated selection because I think that at first glance you can appreciate a good fruit.
The first stand I found offering this product had them at a very cheap price, 3 pineapples for 1$, I think it sounds pretty good, however, at first glance it is noticeable that they were not ripe yet. Very small and greenish in color, it is a pity that they take the fruits long before ripening, although I do not deny that in opportunities I have bought this type of offers and wait a couple of days for ripening. Many times it is a good option depending on the economic disposition of each person.
You can judge the size of these pineapples by comparing it to the size of a not very large woman's hand. .
At the second stand I visited the price was 2 pineapples for 1$, these were a little bigger, but you can still tell they were taken well before they were ripe.
Later, the matter began to improve in terms of the appearance of the pineapples. A vendor was offering each one for 1$, they were bigger, however, the bark quite greenish.
I arrived at a small store and I quite liked the pineapples they were offering, these were much bigger and most of them looked ripe, with a good color, I took one to perceive its fragrance and it was quite attractive, however, I let it go as the price was $1.5 each and my budget for this product was $1, so I continued my way, I thought that if I did not find what I was looking for at the price I wanted, I would come back.
The most common price in this area was 2 pineapples for 1$, but they did not look fresh at all.
I went into a small supermarket and what I saw as far as pineapples were concerned I did not like at all, the shell quite wilted. The price at 1.3 $ and I thought that if I had to take some of those pineapples, I would rather take some of the ones that were in the 2 for 1$ promotions.
Actually, when I go to buy pineapples I go to the store of some guys who bring fresh fruits from the interior of the country, when they bring pineapples they are beautiful, big, ripe and very aromatic, they sell them for 1$ each, but today they did not have any.
When I was almost determined to go to the second stall I visited, I spotted a stall a few meters away that apparently had good fruits.
I approached it and what I saw I quite liked, they had a great variety of very fresh and attractive fruits. I saw the medium sized pineapples and although some were still a bit green, overall they were quite good and I asked for one that was on top of them all and looked quite complete, attractive and aromatic.
I took it in my hands and thought I had gotten what I was looking for, a ripe but hard and complete pineapple, its rind looked alive, orange in color and gave off a delicious aroma. I didn't think about it and exchanged $1 for that beauty.
When I was on my way home, a truck was carrying a good load of fruits and vegetables, pineapples among them, they looked quite small and green, I repeat again that it is a pity that they do not let them ripen.
I arrived happy with my purchase, put it in the kitchen and went to take care of other things, when I returned to heat up my lunch it was very pleasant to perceive the aroma of pineapple permeating the place.
Tomorrow I will do one of the hardest jobs I know, cut the pineapple 😅.
I'm not doing it today because I want it to ripen a little bit more, as some small areas are a little greenish.
What I like most about pineapple is that you can take advantage of all the fruit, its rind is delicious to eat in chunks and to make juices.
I like to cut it into slices if I am going to consume it at once or the next day and keep it in the refrigerator in airtight containers or cut it into square pieces if I am going to use it a few days later and keep it in the freezer in a tightly closed container, this case is ideal for making refreshing smoothies or slushies. Although the ideal is to eat fruits as fresh as possible, we do not always have that possibility and it is good that we can keep portions.
I confess that my favorite part of the pineapple is the rind, after washing it well I love to make cooked pineapple shell juices or put it to ferment to make chichas, among other ways of consumption.
This is the pineapple I bought today along with a container containing pineapple shell previously fermented and then refrigerated.
Likewise, if I am not going to use it right away, I keep it in the freezer in a tightly covered container, although in my case, most of the time I put it to ferment immediately or to cook.

¡Un saludo! Deseándoles bienestar integral, hoy me he animado a participar en el reto de la compra vegana, atendiendo a la sugerencia que me ha dado mi querida hermana @carisma77 y agradeciendo a @sirenahippie por la oportunidad.
Vivo en una zona popular de la ciudad de Caracas, por aquí las calles están llenas de vendedores ambulantes que ofrecen gran variedad de productos, entre estos frutas y verduras que traen de varios rincones del país.
Salir a comprar piña es bastante fácil para mí, al menos cuando es temporada, casi que a cada paso hay algún puesto de vendedores ofreciéndola. La desventaja es que muchos las venden aun cuando han sido recogidas antes de haber alcanzado su maduración completa, por eso para encontrar una buena piña por aquí debo hacer una selección no muy complicada pues creo que a simple vista se puede apreciar una buena fruta.
El primer puesto que encontré ofreciendo este producto las tenía a un precio bastante económico, 3 piñas por 1$, creo que suena bastante bien, sin embargo, a simple vista es notorio que aún no estaban maduras. Muy chiquitas y su color verdoso, es una lástima que tomen los frutos mucho antes de su maduración, aunque no niego que en oportunidades he comprado este tipo de ofertas y espero un par de días la maduración. Muchas veces es una buena opción dependiendo de la disposición económica de cada persona.
Se puede juzgar el tamaño de estas piñas comparándolo con el de la mano de una mujer no muy grande.
En el segundo puesto que visité el precio era de 2 piñas por 1$, estas estaban un poquito más grandes, pero aún se nota que fueron tomadas mucho antes de su maduración.
Más adelante, la cuestión comenzó a mejorar en cuanto al aspecto de las piñas. Un vendedor estaba ofreciendo cada una por 1$, estás estaban más grandes, sin embargo, la corteza bastante verdosa.
Llegué a un pequeño negocio y me gustaron bastante las piñas que ofrecían, estas estaban mucho más grandes y la mayoría se veían maduras, con un buen color, tomé una para percibir su fragancia y estaba bastante atractiva, sin embargo, lo dejé pasar pues el precio era de 1,5$ cada una y mi presupuesto para este producto era de 1$, así que continué mi camino, pensé que si no encontraba lo que buscaba al precio que quería, volvería.
El precio más común por esta zona era de 2 piñas por 1$, pero no se veían nada frescas.
Entré a un pequeño supermercado y lo que vi en cuanto a piñas se trataba no me gustó nada, la concha bastante marchita. El precio a 1.3 $ y pensé que, si tuviera que llevar algunas de esas piñas, preferiría entonces llevar alguna de las que estaban en las promociones de 2 por 1$.
Realmente, cuando voy a comprar piñas lo hago en el negocio de unos chicos que traen frutas frescas del interior del país, cuando traen piñas estas sí que son hermosas, grandes, maduras y muy aromáticas, las vendes a 1$ cada una, pero el día de hoy no tenían.
Cuando estaba casi decidida a dirigirme al segundo puesto que visité, divisé un puesto ambulante a pocos metros que aparentemente tenía buenas frutas.
Me acerqué y lo que vi me gustó bastante, tenían gran variedad de frutas muy frescas y atractivas. Vi las piñas de tamaño mediano y aunque algunas aún estaban un poco verdes, en general estaban bastante buenas y pedí una que estaba encima de todas y que se veía bastante completa, atractiva y aromática.
La tomé en mis manos y pensé que ya había conseguido lo que estaba buscando, una piña madura pero dura y completa, su corteza se veía viva, de color anaranjado y desprendía un delicioso aroma. No lo pensé e intercambié 1$ por esa hermosura.
Cuando ya iba camino a casa, un camión llevaba una buena carga de frutas y verduras, piñas entre ellas, se veían bastante chiquitas y verdes, vuelvo a repetir que es una pena que no las dejen madurar.
Llegué contenta con mi compra, la coloqué en la cocina y fui a ocuparme en otras cosas, cuando volví a calentar mi almuerzo fue muy grato percibir el aroma a piña impregnar el lugar.
Mañana haré uno de los trabajos más difíciles que conozco, cortar la piña 😅.
No lo hago hoy porque quiero que se madure un poquito más, ya que algunas pequeñas zonas están un poco verdosas.
Lo que más me gusta de la piña es que se puede aprovechar toda la fruta, su corteza es deliciosa para consumir por trozos y para hacer zumos.
Me gusta cortarla en rodajas si la voy a consumir de una vez o al día siguiente y la guardo en la nevera en recipientes herméticos o la corto en trozos cuadrados si la voy a usar algunos días después y la guardo en el congelador en un recipiente bien cerrado, este caso es ideal para hacer batidos refrescantes o granizados. Aunque lo ideal es comer las frutas lo más frescas posibles, no siempre tenemos esa posibilidad y es bueno que podamos conservar porciones.
Confieso, que mi parte favorita de la piña es la corteza, después de lavarla bien me encanta para hacer jugos de concha de piña cocida o ponerla a fermentar para hacer chichas, entre otros modos de consumo.
Esta es la piña que compré hoy junto a un envase que contiene concha de piña previamente fermentada y posteriormente refrigerada.
Igualmente, si no la voy a usar al momento la guardo en el congelador en un recipiente bien tapado, aunque en mi caso, la mayoría de las veces la pongo a fermentar de inmediato o a cocinar.
