Although I am late, I come with much encouragement to this warm and nurturing community led by the admirable @sirenahippie and well, despite the fact that the time of Your Veggie Shopping (Rice) of @plantpoweronhive, who invited us to present our rice shopping, I did not desist and still with much affection I want to share my experience buying this cereal that at home can not miss because its use is very versatile and more in a blue family like us, where gluten is avoided. For I have children with autism and especially the youngest, must follow more consistently their gluten-free diet.
Well, apart from using rice in main dishes you can also use it to make desserts like a coconut rice and even to prepare drinks, like a rice cream, also called rice chicha.
I admit that I have not yet mastered the variety of rice brands that exist in Colombia, I have only been here for a few months and I am still a novice. By the way, we just moved house as I explain here and it's time to get to know other stores to shop. The good thing is that I have seen other brands of rice that I did not know, so I realize the great variety of brands and types of rice that the Colombian market offers. I should not expect less in a country where they eat so much rice that it looks like China and I am happy because I love rice. Check out the variety of rice in a small store nearby.
I really like to see a lot of rice.
I confess that in this new address where we live I do not go out, I am locked at home because I can not walk much, but my son @sorprendente to nag teeth pleased me, he takes care of me so much and that's why he has forbidden me to go out. But he accompanied me to the store I visited for the first time after 20 days living here. I really wanted to make my contribution about rice shopping and that's why I'm happy to make this post, although delayed.
When we walked in, we looked for the rice section and I was pleased to see variety of brands. The one I immediately identified was Diana Traditional rice, because it is very popular, inexpensive and of good quality. It is one of the brands I use the most. The presentation is 500 grams, like most brands, and its price is 2,300 Pesos in that store. I grab a pack to go.
I also see Diana Premium rice, better quality grain.
I look up the price and see that it is 2,950 Pesos. It's more expensive but I grab two 500 gram packs to go.
I'm still taking a look around to show you guys other brands, although I won't be buying any more. But it is interesting to know another variety and there are even some very interesting types of rice, like this one I saw that said Coconut, also from Diana brand and I was interested to read about its preparation, because first time I saw it.
Turns out it says just add sugar and salt, but of course you have to cook with water. The price is 3,000 Pesos for 500 grams.
Another one that also surprised me was one that says Con Fideos Doraditos, from the Supremo brand. The truth is that there is rice for all tastes, it's amazing.
The price was about three thousand pesos, but I remember exactly the amount. The package brings 500 grams.
There was also Doña Pepa parboiled rice, the package of 500 grams is 3,600 Pesos. This type of rice is very healthy although I do not like its taste, but it is recommended by doctors as well as brown rice. Another advantage is that when it is cooked it is more whole, the grains are looser when cooked.
Even if I don't like it, it's worth buying but it will be another time.
Gran Oro rice is another parboiled type, but more economical. It is priced at 2,000 Pesos and likewise the package is 500 grams.
I liked its appearance, it is golden, very nice and not expensive.
Back to white rice, here is the Castellano brand, which is a premium type rice and I didn't know about it. Its price is 4,500 Pesos a half kilo.

Among the variety that exists in rice presentation, are the 2,500 Kilograms packages, which in this store are priced between 10 thousand and 15 thousand Pesos, depending on the brand.
In a country that includes so much of this cereal in its gastronomy, it is common to see its wholesale even in retail stores.
To end this tour of my rice purchases, I tell you, I am very happy and I have reasons, a fact is the blue color of my clothes and among so many occupations that I have lately on the platform, especially in the blue community, you still have to go out to buy food. That is indisputable, because no matter how busy we are, we have to eat. What I'm getting at is that, a few hours ago I was on my laptop working on the last details of the activities for the month of autism and seeing that there were 5 hours left before the end of the opportunity to present my purchase of rice, I go out especially to buy what I need to present this publication but still the timer beat me. 😊

Aunque llego retardada vengo con mucho ánimo a esta cálida y nutritiva comunidad dirigida por la admirable @sirenahippie y bueno a pesar de que ya pasó hace unas horas el tiempo del Your Veggie Shopping (Rice) de @plantpoweronhive, quien nos invitaba a presentar nuestras compras de arroz, no desistà e igual con mucho cariño quiero compartir mi experiencia comprando este cereal que en casa no puede faltar porque su uso es muy versátil y más en una familia azul como nosotros, donde se evita el gluten. Pues tengo hijos con autismo y especialmente el menor, debe seguir con mayor constancia su dieta libre de gluten.
Bien, aparte de usar el arroz en los platos fuertes también se puede usar para hacer postres como un arroz con coco y hasta para preparar bebidas, como una crema de arroz, también llamada chicha de arroz.
Reconozco que todavÃa no domino la variedad de marcas de arroz que existen en Colombia, apenas tengo pocos meses aquà y sigo como toda una novata. De paso, recién nos mudamos de casa como lo explico aquà y toca conocer otras tiendas para hacer las compras. Lo bueno es que he visto otras marcas de arroz que no conocÃa, asà me doy cuenta de la gran variedad de marcas y tipos de arroz que ofrece el mercado colombiano. No debo esperar menos en un paÃs donde se come tanto arroz que parece China y yo feliz porque me encanta el arroz. Miren la variedad de arroz en una tienda pequeña que queda cerca.
Realmente me gusta ver mucho arroz.
Confieso que en esta nueva dirección donde vivimos no salgo, estoy encerrada en casa porque no puedo caminar mucho, pero mi hijo @sorprendente a regaña dientes me complació, el me cuida tanto y por eso me ha prohibido salir. Pero me acompañó a la tienda que visité por primera vez luego de 20 dÃas viviendo aquÃ. Es que realmente querÃa hacer mi aporte sobre compras de arroz y por eso estoy feliz haciendo esta publicación, aunque retrasada.
Cuando entramos, buscamos la sección de arroz y me gustó ver variedad de marcas. La que identifiqué inmediatamente fue el arroz Diana Tradicional, porque es muy popular, económico y de buena calidad. Es una de las marcas que más uso. La presentación es de 500 gramos, como la mayorÃa de las marcas, y su precio es de 2.300 Pesos en esa tienda. Agarro un paquete para llevar.
También veo arroz Diana Premium, de mejor calidad el grano.
Busco el precio y veo que es de 2.950 Pesos. Es más costoso pero agarro dos paquetes de 500 gramos para llevar.
Sigo dando un vistazo para mostrarles a ustedes otras marcas, aunque no compraré más. Pero resulta interesante conocer otra variedad e incluso hay unos tipos de arroz muy interesantes, como este que vi que decÃa Coco, también de la marca Diana y me interesó leer sobre su preparación, pues primera vez que lo veÃa.
Resulta que dice que solo hay que agregar azúcar y sal, pero claro que hay que cocinar con agua. El precio es de 3.000 Pesos por 500 gramos.
Otro que también me sorprendió fue uno que dice Con Fideos Doraditos, de la marca Supremo. La verdad es que hay arroz para todos los gustos, es increÃble.
El precio estaba sobre los tres mil pesos, pero recuerdo exactamente el monto. El paquete trae 500 gramos.
También habÃa Arroz parbolizado Doña Pepa, el paquete de 500 gramos está en 3.600 Pesos. Este tipo de arroz es muy saludable aunque a mi no me gusta mucho su sabor, pero es recomendado por los médicos asà como el arroz integral. Otras ventaja es que cuando se cocina queda más entero, los granos quedan más suelto al cocinarlo.
Aunque no me guste, vale la pena comprarlo pero será en otra oportunidad.
El arroz Gran Oro es otro tipo parbolizado, pero más económico. Su precio está en 2.000 Pesos e igualmente el empaque es de 500 gramos.
Me gustó su apariencia, es dorado, muy bonito y no es costoso.
Volviendo al arroz blanco, aquà está la marca Castellano, que es un arroz tipo premium y que yo no conocÃa. Su precio es de 4.500 Pesos el medio kilo.
Me gusta su presentación, de color azul como el Mundo del Autismo.
Entre la variedad que existe de presentación de arroz, están los empaques de 2.500 Kilogramos, que en esta tienda tienen un precio entre 10 mil y 15 mil Pesos, dependiendo de la marca.
En un paÃs que incluye tanto este cereal en su gastronomÃa es común ver su venta al mayor aún en las tiendas minoristas.
Para finalizar este recorrido de mis compras de arroz, les cuento, que estoy muy feliz y tengo motivos, un dato es el color azul de mi ropa y entre tantas ocupaciones que tengo últimamente en la plataforma, especialmente en la comunidad azul, igual hay que salir a comprar alimentos. Eso es indiscutible, porque por más ocupados que estemos hay que comer. A donde quiero llegar es que, hace unas horas estaba en mi laptop trabajando en últimos detalles de las actividades por el mes del autismo y al ver que faltaban 5 horas para que terminara la oportunidad de presentar mi compra de arroz, salgo especialmente a comprar lo que necesito para presentar esta publicación pero igual el cronómetro me ganó. 😊
