Weekly shopping : looking for cheap onions with good quality

Shopping for staples is a mandatory shopping that I have to do, as an employee and also as a housewife I have to be wise in doing this, so that our financial condition is sufficient until the next payday. There is shopping that I do twice a month, namely shopping that lasts a long time such as soap, toothpaste, flour, rice, sugar, salt and various other dry foods and there is also weekly shopping so that I don't keep the ingredients for a long time such as onions, chilies, and tomatoes. The daily shopping that I always make time to buy is fresh fish and vegetables, because near my house there are sellers of fresh vegetables and various kinds of fish at cheap prices, of course.

If I shop for dry kitchen ingredients at the supermarket, it's different from when I buy chilies, tomatoes, onions and vegetables. I prefer to buy at wholesalers or traditional markets, which are still very much in my village. And for now I will focus more on sharing with you guys how I shop for onions.

To shop for onions, I usually do it once every 2 weeks, and why do I prefer to shop at traditional markets rather than at supermarkets, because if I shop at the supermarket I can't choose onions freely, because the onions at the supermarket are already packed with the right size. gram without us being able to freely choose the quality of the onions, it's different if I shop at a traditional market I can choose the onions I want to my heart's content.

I don't understand how to shop in your country. However, I will show you how to shop in my country, especially in my city, namely Kota bInjai. And what I will show here to all my friends is how I shop for onions. When I shop for onions at the wholesalers at the store, they will spread various types of onions, starting from the lowest price to the highest price, and there are various types of onions that are always in this store.

In this shop there are various types of shallots, namely village shallots which are small in size and cheap in price, in terms of the shape of these onions they do not look good, but in terms of taste these onions are spicier and when fried these onions are much more fragrant, then these onions also has a lower price compared to other types of shallots, but I don't like this small type of onion, because I'm too tired to peel it so I prefer onions from Java, even though the price is a little more expensive but I'm not too Tired of peeling the onions, then there are types of Peking onions which are big and have cheap prices too, but these Peking onions are alternative onions if the price of native onions and the price of onions on the island of Java soar in price. Besides shallots, this shop also sells garlic. For comparison, the price of 1 kilogram of red onion is Rp. 36,000 or the equivalent of 2 $ dollars, and the price that I saw when I shopped was the price of a quarter kilogram. then the price of the smaller village onions is valued at RP. 20,000 or the equivalent of 1.5 $ dollars. Peking onions are much cheaper than that but I forgot to ask for sure.

And for how to store the onions so that they last, my method is enough to store them in a wide spice container with sufficient air temperature without being stored in plastic, this can store onions for 1 month, you can also store them in the refrigerator after first I used to peel the onions, but I personally don't like how to store onions this way. ok that's all from me greetings from us Tomi and Maya from Binjai City, Indonesia.
